The Bistro – Courtyard by Marriott - Ottawa, Ontario

The rooms are clean and relatively new. The location is good since the hotel is close to the ByWard market, which has a great bakery among other things.

We stayed for a weekend and found the rooms pretty spacious. The bed was good, and the washroom was well done. It seems like they may have newly renovated a bit of the hotel. The restaurant looked very nice. The fitness centre was a bit of a surprise, with a ... good amount of free weights for a hotel, and a good all-round machine. I am a current guest, and even with the do not disturb sign on, someone came knocking quite aggressively on my door at 9am, and opening the door, violently disrupting my sleep. Luckily the door stopper was on. Super terrifying!! Do not disturb should mean just that. The neighborhood is a ... little shabby, homelessness and drug addiction is rampant. Customer service is ok, I was able to settle into my room with little issue. Rooms are a little dated, lighting isn’t ideal but most hotel lighting is like that. View is a concrete wall. Read more

Zero stars!! This hotel is located in downtown Ottawa in an extremely busy area. One side of the street is decent while the other is filled with homeless shelters and people high on drugs fill the streets. You can’t go out after dark with the amount of sketchy people begging for money ... and shooting up outside the hotel door. While staying here someone overdosed outside our room window and died. The hotel doesn’t have enough parking for all the rooms. If you’re lucky enough to get a parking space on the hotel lot you’ll be charged an additional $35 per day. The parking lot is tiny - good luck if your driving a large vehicle. Trying to get back to the hotel during the day proved to be a challenge with traffic and multiple protests which closed streets down leaving us stuck in traffic. Once back to the hotel there’s no telling if the parking space you paid for will still be open. Yes I paid for hotel parking and didn’t even get to park there because they had oversold their lot. If you’re planning a trip to Ottawa stay on the outskirts instead of downtown and don’t waste your money at this place. Read more

I can't say enough about this gem of a hotel. Unassuming but clean and comfortable and the staff is kind and professional. Beds are good and sleep quality is good. I'm here often and always have a good stay. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the ... windows don't open. Upper floor courtyard rooms are the best. Read more
