We enjoyed this museum and it was just the right size. We were able to see all the exhibits (except for those that required additional tickets) in a few hours. Their bird exhibit is really impressive with the sheer number and types of birds. I believe it ... was about $40 US for 2 adults and one child which is very reasonable. They have a cafe and store. We didn’t go to the cafe but the gift shop’s items were reasonably priced. We walked from our hotel near the Byward Market and it took about 25 minutes. There were a lot of charming stores and restaurants along the way. Read more
Have been several times but finally decided to leave a review. During public holidays, sometimes there is no entry fees. The parking on site is limited ($12 etc). There is street parking around (paid). Once inside, there are 4 levels, level 1 has the cafeteria serving beverages and pizza/ sandwiches, Fairly ... pricey. This level also features the fossils. There’s even a video on how became extinct. Plenty of sensory experiences, lots of information. You can easily spend several hours checking it out. The bathrooms were clean and despite it being extremely busy when I went I didn’t feel claustrophobic. Also checked out their bug adventure. Lots of information on bugs, several mini exhibits. Overall, informative. Read more
Such a great place to visit, especially for families with kids. Very informative museum with lots of resources like movies, professor talks you can listen to on displays. It took 4 hours to go through all floors. You can find lots of fossils, bugs, birds, mammals and learn so much.
I recently organized a trip to the museum for a community group and was very pleased with their service. As I made the reservation I was impressed by the swiftness and thoroughness of their emails. On the actual day of visit I was assisted by the lovely Elizabeth. Elizabeth smoothly ... walked me through the invoicing and ensured my group was correctly accounted for. She also advised me on how to have an enjoyable trip and was overall very helpful and sweet. I wish we had organized a longer visit as the museum was absolutely spectacular! I will definitely be back for another trip. Read more

Entry is free on special days (I visited for free on Canada Day). It’s a lovely place with so much to look at under different sections. I personally think you need at least three 2-3 hour visits to cover everything if you want to take it all in properly. [the ... fossil section was the most fascinating for me] If you’re an architect or a design enthusiast—there’s a lovely titanium sculpture in the garden before you get in and they also have quite interesting staircases (+lobbies) in the museum.
