Avant-Garde Bar - Ottawa, Ontario

Went for some live music on a Saturday night. Music was good and prices were reasonable. Unfortunately there was only one staff member working so getting a drink was near impossible, waited at the bar for almost 40 minutes. Not sure if someone called in sick or whatever but that ... was my experience. Its also worth noting that one of the drinks I received had a lime in it that was full of bugs, the bar was too busy to ask for a different one though. Read more

Interesting place! Could be cool to reposition the stage from the front to the back! Otherwise the service was good and the drinks were cold!

My new “pocket bar” in the hood that is quite nondescript on the outside, but is warm and inviting once you’re inside. The Barman is amazing handling the everyone on his own! Enjoyed the intimate space with a 7 man band… The Boo Radlley Project

Amazing. I came here on a Friday night, there was live music which was amazing. It was filled with students. Has a small bar, and bathrooms. There is a nice area in the back with tables to sit. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if there is live ... music! Read more

Very nice and cozy little bar. Amateur musicians perform almost everyday in the evening. Alex, the owner is from Russia. They have in the bar Russian and Soviet memorabilia. The choice of beer is good and small snacks are available.
