The Royal Oak - Ottawa, Ontario

Just came back from a work lunch. We were a large group (30+) and the staff were efficient, friendly and accommodating. They were supportive right from the start of booking the group and we appreciated their willingness to help us host.

I would review the food but we didn’t even get a drink in 20 minutes of waiting. Father’s Day… we wheeled my 89 year old father there to enjoy fish and chips and a beer on the patio. We arrived at 11:55. I watched the blonde waitress in black cutoffs ... refill coffee 3x at the tables nearest us. She never got to us to take a drink order let alone food. My husband inquired inside and that didn’t change anything. So we left at 12:15 and went right next door. The fish and chips were great, cheaper and we were eating by 12:35. Lastly, we had to rearrange chairs to accommodate the wheelchair and the waitress made no effort to assist or even say a word to us. Deplorable service. Read more

We had the turkey cranberry with delicious brie cheese. However, the cranberry mayonnaise was just regular mayonnaise. It could definitely use some improvement. The service was good, but a bit slow, as if there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, which felt crowded, almost like we were all ... sitting in the same room together. The prices are affordable. The desserts were delicious, we recommend apple crisp and cheesecake. Read more

Very good and rich and affordable brunch menu.

I saw my favourite Ottawa musician, Alanna Sterling, perform here on Jan 5, 2024. I ate the Windsor sandwich (ciabatta, chicken, Swiss cheese, guac, pesto mayo, lettuce and tomato) which was filling and delicious. The Pilsner beer at $6.50 was refreshing. They had great service, a nice crowd and a ... warm atmosphere. The Royal Oak is highly recommended for the local talent and weekly specials. Read more
