The Brass Monkey - Ottawa, Ontario

I went to see a band perform this week and had a pleasant experience. The good: - There's seating! - Friendly, helpful staff - Lots of parking - You can get very close to the stage - Cleanest floors I've ever seen at a music venue, like, they weren't even a little bit sticky, it was ... amazing The bad: - It gets very hot - Not the best sound mixing (not sure if this was the bands there or the venue, but you could barely hear the singers' voices) I was aware it could get hot so I went in shorts and a tank and was okay, but I could see people (including some of the performers) sweating bullets. Could definitely use more AC. But overall it's a pretty good venue! I was surprised to see there was some seating (a few tables and some benches on the sides), which I either missed on their website or they didn't mention. If I were them, I'd make that fact better known. The place was very clean, my shoes are grateful for that fact. All in all, would go again. :) Read more

We saw 2 of our favourite bands here! Eluveitie and Insomnium! It’s a small venue but it makes it easier to see your favourite artists up close!

First of all, for context, this place was a hang out to me many moons ago, I may have accidentally called it the "broken monkey" last night once or twice last night, when I returned for the first time in at least 18 years give or take. The place looks wonderful, ... big and open, it was at least half packed and half unpacked but still people, excellent venue, all the bartenders and staff were polite and friendly. All in all, I really enjoyed the show, atmosphere and people, and I look forward to doing it again. Thanks all, great job! Read more

The past Thursday evening was my first time at Brass Monkey. It was a small gathering with friends. Lots of pool tables and places to sit if you want to talk I don't drink alcohol but Crystal (the bartender) was the absolute BEST!!! I told her to surprise me with juice and ... soda water. I wasn't picky on what juice. I had some of the best mocktails, with combinations of pineapple juice, lemonade, cranberry juice and soda water. I had three mocktails and each time, Crystal told me to have just a small sip to see if I liked it wanted anything tweaked (I never had any of them tweaked).
