Lowertown Brewery - Ottawa, Ontario

Went for a quick beer and nachos and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere! We tried the red and gold beer which were both amazing. Nachos were wonderful.

I had the double jalapeno cheese burger. The patties were juicy, well-seasoned, crisp romaine lettuce, tomatoe, and fresh pickles. Not pictured: the house, hazy IPA was citrusy, with just the right hop goodness to make it crushable. The service was prompt, friendly, and on the ball. So, definitely going back.

Went for a casual lunch date with my partner. The food and service we got were both great, but I'm kinda questioning if I'd come back based on a few things. We were served by Alexei, who was so insanely polite and nice to talk to, who also suggested me a ... great beer. My partner had the Sun Dried Flatbread pizza, which was tasty, and I had the Smoked Chicken Club, which honestly was once of the best clubs I've had, ever. There were a couple things that were a turnoff though — firstly, the chairs were wobbly enough to feel a bit unsafe in. I get that I could have asked to switch, but still something to note. The second thing isn't a huge deal, but one of the front of house staff was straightup in grey sweats, and idk, call me old but it's not a great look. Overall was tasty enough to try again! Situated in a tourist-frequented area, it’s understandable that prices may be on the higher side, but the value proposition here seems misaligned. A meal comprising what one might describe as a modestly sized burger with fries, alongside a pint of beer, tipping the scale at over $30, raises questions about its worth, especially when compared to similar offerings elsewhere. I will admit, I was absolutely surprised by this brewery. I can say that this place hands down has the best ribs in town. I ordered the "Butcher's Experience" and I have nothing but praise, the chicken was well seasoned and juicy, the coleslaw was great, the pub chips were ... awesome, the brisket was juicy as well. I definitely recommend getting this meal here and trying it for yourself. Read more
