Bread & Roses Bakery - Ottawa, Ontario

Stopped for a treat during my bike ride. It was the best apple turnover over I've ever had. I drove back later that day to get more for my family. They all liked it too. Will stop by again when I'm in the area.

The first time I have ever went into this bakery, and I fully intend to return. I am so happy with the price, and the quality, fresh and tastes good. EAT HERE!! The lady working there was super nice and answered all of my questions! Atmosphere was good. Two older ladies sitting with coffee and a book. It was cozy. Everything was clean and orderly. However, the two pastries I got to me where bad (i.e didn't like the taste). To the point I didn't ... finish either of them. The person I got the pastries to split with also disliked them. Just bland, dry, worse than grocery store pastries. Maybe it was an off day, maybe on a Saturday its left over stock? I don't know but thats what brought the rating down. Service was lovely. The girl working the front is very kind and friendly. We purchased 3 loaves of bread, pastries and sweets ($55). The pastries tasted very stale and off. The bread was hard and a strange texture. We threw everything we purchased out.I wouldn’t recommend, nothing was good sadly ... and to be honest not even edible. Theres much nicer bakeries locally. Good variety of snacks , pastries and breads at this local family-owned bakery ! Excellent and friendly service too. The only complaint is there is no music at all , and the fridges make very loud mechanical and humming sounds.
