Zak’s Diner - Ottawa, Ontario

Took a party of 4 adults and 4 kids here for brunch in a Saturday. Everyone was happy with their food and the service was friendly and prompt. My wife says the pancakes are better than the French toast. We will be back next time we are in town.

Stopped in here from out of town with some friends, and we absolutely loved it! Great atmosphere, fair prices, we were served right away, the food came fast, and our waitress was very attentive. The food was incredible, very satisfying. We all got the zaks clubhouse sandwich, and it was ... gigantic. You will not go hungry here! I felt like I would burst! The milkshakes are also divine. First time here at Zaks. It's a loud 80s diner, with quick service. The atmosphere is welcoming and there are lots of table. Service is quick and your coffee is always filled. Seniors meals and kids meals.for a good price. The negative is the food. It's okay, not great. Had ... the eggs benedict and the ham is a chunk of pork. The eggs are beside lettus, which wilts the lettus and contaminates the eggs. Better to just get rid of the lettus all together. Potatoes are average. I can cook better at home. No real complaints. Good was quick and the server was attentive. It’s a Zak’s and convenience food.

Usually Zaks is a good place to come for breakfast but today I was disappointed. When I came in everything was fine I was seated and the table was clean but the entire time I was here there was a high pitched ringing coming from somewhere and that doesn’t sound ... too bad but after a while it made me want to rip my ears off. I got the Eggs Benny with tater tots and my partner got the breakfast burrito with home fries. The home fries were good but my tater tots were very cold. The eggs Benny itself was also cold. I guess coming at lunch they were just giving me the left overs from breakfast. The server wasn’t rude or anything but the service was minimal. We didn’t get checked up on more than once and when we did she didn’t even stop at the table. Everything is low stars today. Sorry Zaks. Aside from my visit today, Zaks usually provides better service and hotter food. That being said, Zaks makes me feel very unwell every time I eat it. If you like a greasy and overly sweet breakfast you are in the right spot but if not I’m sure you could find another place to go that isn’t far. Last thing I forgot to mention. My partner’s coffee when the cream was added it curdled and that just made us grossed out although I’m sure it was fine. Read more
