I recently visited Eggspectation with a group of 6 adults and 5 kids. Despite the size of our party, our waiter was incredibly patient and handled our group with ease. Atmosphere is set in a brutal motif. Walking in-the silence was as loud as a Metallica sound check with a hint of slaughterhouse cafeteria mood amongst the staff. As many have stated, there are many great choices on the menu. Most of our party seemed to have made good choices about what to have for breakfast. Almost everything looked good and service was very good. Unfortunately I ordered the chicken and waffles and while the ... waffle was good, the chicken was little frozen chicken strips that are often part of a children's meal. But everyone else really enjoyed their meal. My other problem was that it could have been cleaner there that morning. Sadly, this will not be a good review. We were greeted and seated. They gave us a booth. They never asked if we would like a table. (Yes we wanted a table, this location had plenty of seating available both tables and booths) the booth was terrible, all wood. It was ... not comfortable at all, the table chairs were also all wood) the waitress took forever, it was sort of packed so it was okay they had a wide selection dishes ro choose from. It's a limited menu and definitely not a breakfast restaurant. That being said the choices were a perfect balance. I opted for a BBQ burger. They served us (my wife and I) for some reason they decided not to bring our coffees right away. I ordered the cold ice cappuccino. It was 9/10 and they also understand that Splenda isn't twin or sweet and low. That's a positive side note, nothing more annoying than to get twin and for them to proceed to explain to you its the same thing. No, it isn't if you're asking for coke and they give you root beer... the plate I chose came with a side oder of French fries. The French fries were obviously not fresh, they were cooked more than one time. How I came up with the conclusion was simple. They had been turned into potato chips ... hard and stale. Now onto the burger. It was dry, the BBQ sauce was so watered down it immediately made a mess and was exactly like when you add water to ketchup and get red colored sauce with a hint of whatever it was supposed to be. I took two bites just to make sure I wasn't being hard-headed. Normally in any restaurant the service individual will come back after a few minutes to ensure everything is to your liking. This was not the case, we had to wave her down after waiting for 15 to 18 minutes. I tried to explain but as soon as I said it is not good her mood changed and she made a face and didn't bother to listen to anything I had to say. She asked if I would like something else. I found this very annoying because I had said this was the only item that I had liked. She would have known this if she would have listened to me. My wife's plate was to her liking so I went to McDonald's and got myself something to eat. It's unfortunate but between the service, the atmosphere (loud and unwelcoming, the washrooms which were dirty and disgusting and the food which was at best mediocre I cannot give a positive review. But at least they didn't charge. It took forever to get the bill but clearly this place is understaffed and they don't care as they cater mainly on tourists and not locals. Hopefully they see this and make adjustments. The waitress did her best and that's the saving grace. Hopefully they will see this and adjust. I know it is hard to find staff and the restaurant business is a tough and brutal industry. I'll give this place a try and in a month and hopefully have something better to report. Place was wonderful! Food tasted really good. Staff was friendly and attentive. It’s a short walk away from most of the main hotels downtown. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
