Fuego Tapas Bar - Oakville, Ontario

The location itself is a little strange as it's tucked between an Ice cream shop and works burgers. You really have to know its there and then when you get passed the door theres a hallway leading to another door which opens on a restaurant dinning room. That's where the ... strange ends service is very good and attentive and while we were there we had the the pleasure of meeting the chef who came by once or twice to see how we were doing. This may not have happened if the place had been a little busier but it was a Tuesday evening after all. Now about the food.....it was absolutely wonderful! Great flavours , appealing presentations all from a wonderfully thought out menu. There's definitely something for everyone. The prices were prety decent considering the quality of food they offer and also for an downtown Oakville location. Unlike many other locations in this area it certainly is not stuffy and nor were the people running the place.There is nothing pretentious about this place, the food is definitely the star . Well... The restaurant looks do not stand up to the prices they charge and image they make. Cosy but simple. At least half of the dishes are not tapas despite their names and not worth even finishing them. Some though are quite good - scallops, beet salmon and mushrooms. You ... definitely need to leave some room for churros, although it is easy as you will be quite hungry before you get to them. What makes up for the shortcomings is an excellent service. Read more

Yesterday was my second time at this restaurant and I absolutely love it! The food is fantastic - even if you think the flavors sound questionable (ie a lot of orange flavors) they actually taste amazing! The chef comes out and talks with you which is such a nice touch. ... This is by far one of the best tapas places I have ever been to, including ones in Spain! Cannot wait to go back and try more! IF you like seafood - the scallops are to die for and the shrimp was also delicious! Read more

An explosion of flavors, looks and smells. This new tapas restaurant is a must try. The owners are friendly and passionate about their business. The chef, first Chopped Canada winner, takes the time to meet her customers and along with her husband Sean, share their passion for their dishes and ... their journey. The atmosphere is mellow and nice. This new up and coming restaurant has everything they need to be successful.
