Mandarin Restaurant -Erin Mills - Oakville, Ontario

Had been planning to take my kids here for a while, but the first visit ended up being on 1st July, just for the experience of enjoying free food! Crazy lines, mixed bag of people waiting - they didn't look homeless or needy (some surely did), they didn't look like ... they (or I) "needed" free meals but were there purely for the event. So, all the negativity around the event or those waiting, is because of caustic mindsets of people saying such stuff. The food n arrangements and service - surprisingly surprisingly amazing for the crazy chaotic day it was. Hats off to the restaurant team that managed it so well - including the super long line. A solid Chinese Buffet with some good desserts. I think Mandarin Restaurant is a local Toronto chain. Looks like it's popular or at least well known to most the live in Toronto...with good reason. While I wouldn't call the food here Traditional Chinese, it's actually good and the selection ... is decent. The staff were attentive and friendly. No complaints... I visited Mandarin on its 45th anniversary and endured a 4.5-hour wait to secure a seat among approximately 1000 others. Despite the free meal and lengthy wait, my review remains unbiased. Mandarin maintains consistency across its buffet offerings with a wide variety, though nothing stands out as exceptional or disappointing. While ... you won't find any favorites, there's a lot to appreciate, including over 30 different hot protein items like sweet and sour pork, General Tso's chicken, fried shrimp, roast beef, dumplings, and mussels. The salad bar and dessert selection are extensive, catering to diverse tastes. As a discerning critic, I value service and customer focus, which Mandarin excels in. Despite a full house, the servers efficiently managed to change my plates promptly whenever I returned. They are remarkably friendly and attentive, clearly motivated by customer satisfaction and feedback. The weekend lunch price of $29.99 is quite reasonable at the moment. Mandarin evokes nostalgia with its wide array of classic American Chinese dishes, fostering smiles and cheer among families and children. The Mandarin deserves a full 5 star rating. The food is great. The service is also great. Lots of choices in the buffet so no one is left out. The kids will surely love this place! There was no wait when we got there and it was easy to get seated ... on time. Clean hot towels offered as soon as we got seated and hot perfumed towels at the end of the meals. Read more

One of the best buffets in the entire area that I've been to. The service was top notch!! Our staff Sharon, May and Ning kept our tables clear and drinks refilled were great help. So many different food options from soups to desserts. You can't go wrong with dinner or ... lunch here. Was super clean and tasty food. Read more
