I ordered a carrot cake from Short and Sweet for my daughter's birthday. Carrot cake is her favourite and she's had one each birthday since she was little. I ordered from Short and Sweet this time because a family member is allergic to nuts. Short and Sweet's ... cake - the carrot cake part - was nut free and delicious!! However, every one of us in the family - 3 generations - found the icing WAY too sweet! Half of everyone's cake was left behind on the plate. From the moment I step into this charming bakery I am greeted by the heavenly aroma of freshly baked goods. The selection of cookies, cupcakes and cakes is impressive, and each item is a work of art. The ambiance of the bakery is warm and inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly ... and knowledgeable, eager to help every time. I often order the Sammie or Magic cookies as well as the Birthday Cheesecake Bars, and they are delicious! On my most recent visit I ordered a cake for my son's confirmation and it was absolute perfection - moist, rich and delectable! I also couldn't resist indulging in their decadent chocolate cupcakes, and they were pure bliss and oh-so-chocolaty. We have loved Short and Sweet’s cakes as birthday cakes for years, so it was a no brainer that we went with Short and Sweet when deciding on a bakeshop for our wedding cake. My family and I order cupcakes and cakes from Short & Sweet for all of our milestone events and celebrations, specifically because they are entirely nut-free, but also because of the design and taste. It’s one of our favourite bakeries in Toronto. Everything is delicious. Most recently, we ordered a cake ... for my sister’s bridal shower. The theme for the shower was “Mama Mia”. I shared a few examples as inspiration and Daneet, one of the bakers, was able to create the most beautiful, custom cake for us. I was so impressed at how talented they were in recreating the image. I was in awe of their attention detail. I also really appreciate how attentive they were in answering my emails and calls. This bakery is nothing short of exceptional. Not only did they bake me the most beautiful birthday cake I’ve ever seen, but the filling was so moist and delicious.
