Sweet O’clock - North York, Ontario

Ordered the griddle double fried pork with vegetables...asked if it was cabbage...they said yes so I ordered it to go. Came home to this very non-cabbage dish...and worst of all, the pork is bland. Should have gone next door to get it instead :( *update* we refried the pork with some of ... our own cabbage and the flavour finally came out. Was quite surprised how frying it again totally changed the dish. So came back for lunch to give it one more chance, and the lack of English can be tough but at least things were translated in writing! The lamb wood pot rice is outstanding, the first milk tea they made looked and felt nothing like milk tea...but then they fixed it so I'm a satisfied luncher. The cake was good but staff was too unfriendly, not a single word during the service, only we ordered and talked to her.

When I went in, I was craving for mango. However it's a seasonal item and they don't have it (it's November). So I settled for what they claimed to be the best and it did not disappoint. They were generous with the topping. I got seated on the 2nd floor ... and the decorations decorations was not the best. I would definitely come back and try the cooked food though. I really like their signature grass jelly dessert. I always go there for this. The shaved ice taro wasn't as good. It gets busy inside so I like to take mine to go and not have to wait as long for seats.

They should stick to perfecting their line of beverages and avoid doing food items. I ordered their intestines, deep fried tofu and spicy beef noodle soup. The intestines tasted way too fatty and gamy for me. The spicy beef noodle soup was extremely bland, not an ounce of sodium or ... depth of flavour. Also there was no beef in my beef soup.
