Edit: The defensiveness in the hotel manager’s reply says it all. For good service, don’t go to the Pan Pacific. hosted a guest block here for my wedding, and it was honestly a nightmare. This hotel has major accessibility issues and does not accommodate individuals who cannot ride in elevators. They cancelled a ... guest the night before because they couldn’t accommodate a lower floor, staircase room. This was done with no apologies. On arrival, there were power outages that had guests stuck in the elevator. Our outages occurred June 15th, so it seems like this happens to them a lot based on other reviews. The outage could have been ok with clear, calm, communication from hotel staff but instead they seemed angry, evasive, and did nothing to make it right. One wedding guest lost their key card and were told they would not be given a new key without ID (which was locked in their room). At our brunch event, coffee was not self-serve but staff acted annoyed when asked for more coffee. The food was not great. The hotel seemed over-booked considering the lack of staffing and major issues with the elevator all weekend. One elevator is seemingly permanently down. Some guests reported waiting for the elevator up to 20 minutes. We were supposed to have the executive suite but the door to our patio was not functioning, the bathroom was tiny, and a school group was on our floor with no adult supervision and so I was kept up the entire night before my wedding. I loved my guestroom on the 19th floor with a wonderful view. The shower was nice and powerful, and my room also had a separate bathtub which I didn't use. The bed was comfy and my room had a king bed, wardrobe, and desk space. It was very spacious and ... everything seemed to work well. Parking was convenient; just tell them your plate number when you arrive and it's almost instant in-out with a plate-reader camera at the parking lot gate. I didn't dine at the hotel, but there was a great smell of cooking meat every time I stepped out around dinner time. There are plentiful food options at the mall area across the street, which gets busy. The hotel grounds are large and you feel as though you're kind of away from the city, even though it's right off the highway. This is an aged and tired hotel. Not worth $260/night. Not even close. The staff are excellent, they go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. Unfortunately, they can't compete with the tired state of the hotel. While the bathrooms have been updated, the rooms are dated. I didn't take ... any pictures, but you're only missing cigarette butts and pigeon droppings on the tiny balcony. There seems to be smoking in many rooms, despite it being a non-smoking hotel. *This review is edited due to my atrocious second stay* My partner and I were staying here because it was a convenient location and we had a good first stay. We showed up around 4:30pm -5 pm and were told we couldn’t check in for awhile as their system had been down ... all morning. These things happen and we were very understanding, and left to run some errands only to be phoned a few minutes later that our room was ready. When we explained to the person on the phone that we were told that the room wouldn’t be ready for awhile due to the power outage/system being down he told us that he had no idea what we were talking about. We ran our errands and then came back. The next day part of our ceiling fell down and when I went to talk to the front desk I was told there were no more rooms available until I mentioned that we were hoping to have extended our stay… suddenly one became available on a higher floor. This would normally be great but the elevators are unreliable and many guests joked about with us every time we entered an elevator with them. The water in our room the next day mysteriously was not working and when I told someone they asked if I turned the shower on properly. Someone from maintenance came by shortly and it seemed like a regular occurrence to them. It’s clear that there are too few staff and the ones that are there are overworked. Our stay at the Pan Pacific was a comically poor experience, highlighting the hotel's urgent need for infrastructure upgrades. We stayed here twice because it was one of the few hotel options available in the area where we needed to be. During our first stay, my partner got stuck in an ... elevator for 15 minutes before all the elevators stopped working later that day. It was the day we were leaving so we considered it bad luck and moved on. Upon arrival for our second stay, several hours after the designated check-in time, we were informed that the power had been out since 6 a.m., preventing us from checking in. We were told they did not know when the issue would be resolved and were advised to return several hours later. We were exhausted but rolled with it and rearranged our plans so we could run errands and come back later. A few minutes after we left the hotel, we received a call saying our room was ready and that there had been no issues with checking in that day. The next day, a piece of our ceiling fell to the ground. When we reported this to reception, they said they were fully booked and couldn't move us. However, when we mentioned we were considering extending our stay, they suddenly found an available room. Unfortunately, that room later experienced a water outage for several hours. While isolated issues can happen, it is a red flag for so many problems to occur to the same guests during two brief stays. The most frustrating part was the lack of acknowledgement or apology from the staff. Despite experiencing elevator malfunctions, power outages, water shortages, and a ceiling collapse, we were charged the full price for our stay. It’s clear that this hotel used to be very nice—in fact, my parents stayed here on their wedding night. Just know that if you stay here now, you’ll likely encounter some issues. Read more
