Update: Today was the second time we came here. I ordered the special - polenta whatever.. it came drenched in olive oil. Like at least two table spoons worth - see the attached picture. What on earth is this? Are you trying to give your customers a heart attack?? The ... server explained that it's the sauce that is very oily but she generously offered another food to me or take it off the bill. Totally appreciate! Original review: Vegan / vegetarian restaurant with many gluten free options - big portions and reasonable prices. So in other words, this is going to be my one stop shop the next time I'm in New Westminster! I absolutely loved the food here. We found this restaurant on the Vancouver Dineout website with their menu pricing at $25 per person. My table had the brussel sprouts dish and tomato soup as appetizers, the cauliflower steak (not yet on their regular menu) and beet risotto as mains, and the chocolate pie (vegan) and churros (not vegan due to the butter) as desert. We absolutely loved them. My favorite was the soup (which wasn't even mine!) but I'm one of those people that will be absolutely speechless if she's given a savory soup and would totally eat 5 or 6 bowls until I can't eat no more! The owner is super friendly and lovely to chat with. His son created the menu and the dineout menu was to die for! He explained what's in all the dishes and how they are made before we ordered (which to be honest made it very difficult for us to decide which one we wanted to try given his delicious descriptions!) Another wonderful thing is that their cutlery and plates (even takeout containers) are completely compostable. The only issue I see with this place is that the square footage of the restaurant and the kitchen is too small. Given the location of the restaurant and the taste and quality of the food, I think this place will be buzzing with people in no time and I'm going to have to stand in the line the next time I'm back! First time ever to this vegetarian restaurant and was super impressed by the taste and presentation. I'm quite sure a lot of thoughts have gone into the dishes. The red pepper and tomato soup was very smooth and not heavy. Brussel sprouts were very tasty but not too salty, beet ... risotto was beautifully red and rich in cheese flavours. Cauliflower steak was actually grilled cauliflowers on a bed of humus and the fig cheesecake was quite creative. It is inside the Quayside Public Market foodcourt, a hidden gem indeed. Read more

Came here to try the dineout for lunch and the dishes are so much more than what the menu describes it as. Brussels sprouts were amazing. Caramelized onions and pumpkin seed hummus with roasted Brussels sprouts topped with a poached egg, perfectly seasoned. Must order. The beetroot risotto was so creamy and ... rich. Beautiful natural colors. The beet flavour really came through. The fig cheesecake shadowed the other dishes but still tasted good. Consistency was more like a mousse cake. Pieces of figs embedded in the body with a nut fig crust on the bottom. A lighter type of dessert without being too sweet. The other two dishes definitely won my heart. Will return. Read more

Recently, a new plant-focused restaurant opened up in the River Market area at the New West Quay, taking over the former location of Freebird Chicken. Helmed by the team that opened up El Santo in New West, this restaurant strives to provide vegetable-based cuisine that’s more than just your ordinary ... salad. On my first visit here in June, I opted for their Fried Brussels Sprouts ($11) and Lemonade ($4). The dish is actually quite large and there’s plenty of caramelized Brussels sprouts in the dish along with gremolata (a mixture of chopped herbs), pumpkin seeds, hummus, and caramelized onions. To top it off, they add a poached egg on top that bursts open when poked and coats the greenery with a nice yellow hue. While the addition of the egg might not make this dish vegan, it is actually quite enjoyable and might make a carnivore like me rethink Meatless Monday. I returned in mid-June to try their Fig and Wilted Radicchio ($12) and Lemonade ($4). I was a bit worried at first because it didn’t sound like it would be enough to keep my full but this actually turned out to be a nice salad. The brûléed fennel gives it a bit of crunch and the wilted radicchio still retains a light crunch to the bite. The honey balsamic dressing is not overly sweet and the basil adds to the aromatics of this dish. I came back in August and ordered their Fried Brussels Sprouts again ($12) and paired it with a Rhubarb Rosewater Lemonade ($6). Prices seem to have gone up a bit since my first visit but I do really enjoy their Brussels Sprouts… especially how the caramelized onions and gremolata pairs with the fried Brussels. Its heavenly food can only be enjoyed by a pure Vegetarian. Yes my fellow vegetarians, this place is completely and solely vegetarian. Its lication is inside the farmers market/Westminster quayside inside the dome. If u walking to the riverside , u will not find it outside facing the river ... but interior of the market. Very simple and sleek decor. Cushions on the table adds very casual touch. Loved the whole set up as it was shining clean. U get seated with ur menu from the server and wait for ur order to be taken. Very sweet spoken and knowledgeable server on duty for us. Upon asking she explained us about the ingredients and prep of food. Simple menu with still tons of choices from full meals to appetizer or wise versa.
