4 of us showed up for an office night out and birthday. They let me bring balloons early which was great, service was quick and professional. The food was very good, however the shrimp myself and my co worker had was very very dry. Boathouse in New Westminster is my neighborhood bar and restaurant. It’s a revisit after Covid lockdown. I found it renovated, with better ambience. Food and service is good. However, I felt uncomfortable with how the server handled a mistake she made in billing. I ordered a small ... beer, my husband a cocktail, and a warm bite. I checked the bill and found that I was wrongly charged for a large size beer and told the server. She acknowledged that my order was a small size beer and took the bill. She returned and said that it’s her mistake to order me a 20 ounces, instead of a 14 ounces. The one she served was a 20 ounces. I was puzzled and said no wonder I couldn’t finish the beer, which was 2/3 left. She kept saying sorry but expected that we paid the wrong bill. We did. I don’t expect that a hotel restaurant would handle wrong billing like this! Perhaps the server was just too inexperienced. I think the hotel and restaurant management should provide proper training to their staff, so that they won’t upset a customer. Read more

We made a reservation months in advance. We confirmed it. On the day we get there early, because if you are 15 mins late, they won't honor it. They are not ready. 10 people and we said when booking it was for a 50th anniversary. We finally ... get seated and nobody comes by. It takes 30 mins just to get water. The waiter says that someone didn't turn up and he had to do his own section and some other tables. His section doesn't appear any where near us because he disappears for long stretches. 2 hours and we are still waiting for our food. Management says it is the kitchen. We watch while other tables that came in after us are served, eat and leave. 2 hr 10 min two people at our table get their meal. They finish before anyone else gets theirs. We get a discount on the bill and three coupons for free appetizers if you buy an entree. However I know we will not be back anytime soon. The after dinner celebrations had to be pushed back by hours because of this terrible experience. What could they have done better? 1. Assign a waiter in the same section before we are seated so that we are not waiting 30 mins just for water 2. MGMT should be more aware of what the kitchen is doing. Never did get an explanation as to why the kitchen took so long to cook our meals. We asked the waiter several times and he said would check with kitchen and nothing ever came out. We felt sorry for the waiter as he seemed to be running around like crazy, but someone(s) dropped the ball. Great location/ views, megan was great and attentive, happy hour specials are good, food was good (although the Korean chicken sliders lacked and we're dry) everything else was great 👍🏼
