Reviews for The Old Bavaria Haus Restaurant Inc. in New Westminster, British Columbia
Super disappointed in this place. The food was not well done at all. Came out cold, no taste, spatzel was half soggy/ half crispy and way too greasy overall. Not authentic German food by any means. If you are craving a well done, German dish, head a few minutes further ... down Royal ave to the Tattenbaum German restaurant. Superb quality, authentic meals. Read more
It was a Saturday night and we were the first table. We were excited to try the Combination Plate which had Schnitzel , beef roulade, bratwurst sausage , purple cabbage and spatzel. It came out pretty fast. Food was not very hot or fresh. It tasted ok but the beef roulade ... fell apart as it was overdone. The bratwurst was tasty. They put all the meat on top of each other and the schnitzel was on the bottom and became soggy and no longer crisp. The cabbage was maybe an ounce serving but abit over cooked. and spatzel was not fresh or hot. I hope they do a better job with time management as food should be fresher and hot. Red cabbage should be larger and we didnt get any roasted potatoes . The dessert chocolate mousse was tasty but not worth ten dollars. I have bern hear a few times but lobg time ago and Food was much better. You can tell when its not as fresh as it should be. Server was pleasant. If we are paying close to 40.00 for the entree, it has to be much better. Read more

I would say the food average is a solid 4/5 for me. It's better than average, but not quite the best you'll ever have. I would highly recommend coming here if you have a craving for schnitzel. The place also has a homey interior that is very similar to old ... restaurants you'd visit in southern germany. I really enjoyed the bratwurst and highly recommend it. It was a plump, flavourful sausage that was perfectly complimented with sauerkraut and mustard. The baked camenbert was paired nicely with cranberry sauce and seemed to be lightly coated with breading, giving it a nice outer texture. I enjoyed the goulash, but it was a bit too watery for my taste. We got the Schnitzel Champignon, which was nicely breaded and flavourful. However, I felt that there were not enough sauteed mushrooms in the dish. The schnitzel came with a very nice cabbage side, potatoes and some vegetables. The portion size is fairly large, and we shared the one order between the two of us. For dessert, we got the black forest cake, which was absolutely amazing. They really knocked it out of the park, so I highly recommend saving some room for dessert! Read more
The food was delicious as always, the atmosphere was great. Pardeep, our server, was very friendly and helpful. Excellent in every way.
