Really fun bar. Great karaoke night - a mix between those with incredible vocal talent and those too drunk to sing. Perfect! Bartender was super kind. Great folk and fun conversation with patrons.

The waitress with the glasses is great - she has served me a few times. If I was basing my review strictly on service and beer, it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately, I received some of the worst food ever (BBQ Chicken Flatbread). The flatbread did not appear to be warmed ... up, it was DRENCHED in BBQ sauce (and this is coming from someone who likes more sauce than less), there was no cilantro that I could see, and there was barely any onion or cheese. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. I know this sounds harsh, but it's even more harsh to charge someone $18.50 for this. As mentioned, the service is great, so this is a place I would like to come back to, but the food was so bad that I'm not sure if I want to return (even if I only come for drinks). Read more

Love the service. Went there on Canada Day, the place was a little busy but food and drinks were coming out fast. Waiter was super nice and also another man that I assume was the manager. Order chicken tenders and mozzarella cherry tomato flatbread. Food and drinks were good, a little ... pricey tho. Amazing pub! Hands down best pub in New west. This is the place to be if you want to have a good time and you’re in the area. It’s a small tavern in down town new west with a homely vibe. We have been coming here for years and I ... haven’t made a review but we have had many great nights that it’s about time. Siobhan is an amazing waitress, very bubbly and gets you what you need and always checks up on you. One of the nights we were at Begbies, she left because her shift was over and Liz took over for her. The transition was fluid, there was no confusion as to who was taking care of us and Liz was just as helpful as Siobhan. Could not recommend a better place to be and the. My boyfriend and I came here last weekend for nachos. We have been in search of a place that makes nachos properly. It seems these days anywhere you go for nachos, all the toppings are on the top layer, and once the top layer is gone, its bare bones! What ... happened to layering the nachos with cheese and toppings! And also what happened to "add meat for an extra cost" and then maybe getting 6 little crumbles of beef or 5 little pieces of chicken.... So anyways, we decided to try Begbies as we have never been there before. We saw nachos on the menu. We added beef to them and when they arrived they looked amazing. But we were not fooled by the cover of this book. It was hard to find much beef on them. For an extra 5$ it was a sad sad amount. Once the top layer was gone it was just bare nacho chips with a couple random toppings thrown in. no cheese at all. Sadly another one bites the dust in the nacho department.... Read more
