Wok Box - New Westminster, British Columbia

Went here in the evening around 8pm. One other table. Ordered a Regular size ginger beef and 10 boneless chicken wings. $35. Boneless wings were pricey at almost $17 but understandable as it's real chicken pieces. The ginger beef on the other hand wasn't what I expected. ... The rice is long grain and only about a cup. Got 7 strips of ginger beef, sautéed red onions and one piece of green pepper. Please note that this is far from what others expect. Rice was not sticky, portions are questionable and the sauce is runny. Perhaps it was just the one dish. Cost for the portions wasn't to my liking. Asked the employee if the portions are correct as I was concerned. Said its correct and it is what it is. Think I'll take a break from Wok Box for a bit as others have better value. The food was decent and service was adequate. Interior was satisfactory. I asked for my meal to be served in a take out box even though I was eating inside because I wasn't sure if I would eat it all and wanted to be able to take it ... and go. The employee was polite but said he'd give me a box only if I needed one. (In other words, he'd wait and see if I did need one). When I paid for my food, I wasn't given any change and when I looked at the receipt I was given, the employee asked me if that was ok (implying that the change was a tip). I don't mind giving a tip in take out style, no server restaurants but I don't like the tip being assumed and not having my change handed back to me. This was quite an awkward experience for me and I won't be returning to this location unfortunately. I did get the take out box in the end but it would be appreciated by customers if their reasonable order requests are met without question and their change is given back to them without the assumption that it's an automatic tip. Eat here! Amazing menu that is flavourful and satisfying. Our group of 4 each had a different dish at half size (half size, full size, sumo size) and had more than enough. Comfort food that we all loved. Really sweet cooks. See my video clip. Open kitchen so you can ... see and smell the preparations. It's the only Wok Box around so if you're a fan of noodles, rice bowls, butter chicken poutine, and a whoie lot more, you'll love this place. Lots of free parking and accessible. I'll be back! Dont believe the bad reviews, people get butt hurt when they dont get what they want or what they are expecting. But this place was great, had my food order taken and ready in under 10 mins, the guy working behind was very good at his craft, even though it was ... busy at lunch i still couldn't believe how quick he was with getting everyones order ready and correct. And he was working alone. There was a bunch of other patrons complementing their orders and everyone was super happy. I dont know about you but my bowl looked better then the pictures. It’s a hidden gem in Queensborough. The noodles we had tastes great and in good price. They have a special promotion everyday in the week and on Saturday a combo for 2 people cost $25 plus that includes noodles, spring rolls and pops. I wish I found this place earlier. It ... was 3:30pm when we dined in but it’s still very busy due to takeouts and lots of dine-in customers. The only con is it’s a little smoky in the restaurant if you’re planning to dine in.
