Pho Chung Nam - New Westminster, British Columbia

The pho broth tasted great once I realized they have actual chili oil available to pour in. The sub was pleasant, with noodle-sliced pickled vegetables, nicely balancing out the meat. I wish there was something thick, fresh, and crispy like fresh daikon in there. This pho was the first time I ... tried beef balls, I didn't like it. Tasted like weird boiled hot dogs. The steaks weren't as tender, nor were the vegetables as plentiful as the ones at Pho Tam by Surrey central. I got one sprig of basil, two handfuls of bean sprouts, and one quarter of a lime for my pho. No jalapenos? No cilantro like you had in the sub? Bit disappointing, but for the price, location, and atmosphere (lovely, quiet bgm and nearly empty between lunch and dinner this sunny tuesday) it's a nice place to go to on foot if you're in new west! Quick service with a smile and delicious food. I love the combos.

Reasonable prices quick service! For what you would pay for a combo at a fast place you can get the wonton soup and Viet sub combo with endless green tea way better choice in my books! Kids can get bubble tea slush and their fav crispy rolls.

Absolutely terrible service. Why would I go back when Saigon Ivy is just around the corner with amazing food and great service?? My parents and I went in there a couple times, and we will not go back. We had to seat ourselves because the woman at the front desk ... wouldn't even look up at us when we walked in. She finally saw us and took 5 minutes to bring menus. She didn't offer us anything to drink or bring us the traditional pot of tea. We actually had to get up to find her when we wanted to order because she was gone for a long time. There was nobody else in the restaurant on either occasion so she had no excuse. She had a very sour look on her face both times. She didn't smile once. She took our order without comment. The food was actually good, can't say it wasn't. But we felt so unwelcome there, actually like she resented that we were there. The attitude was absolutely horrible. Will never go back there. They don't deserve the business. Read more

Went there last night and was not too busy. Service was prompt and very pleasant. This restaurant seemed cleaned and well maintained. We ordered two pho soup dishes at about 7.50 each. The portions were not as big as some other pho dishes i had at similar restaurants on Kingsway ... st. Food quality was good but not the best pho i ever had. I would go back there to try their other dishes such as their Chinese combos but as far as pho goes it just was not filling enough. Please keep in mind I am 6.4 tall and I do eat bigger sized portions so If you are not a big eater you might find the portion size adequate at that price. Read more
