Iron Chef - Mississauga, Ontario

Hey family, Here’s an honest review of my visit to Iron Chef located in Mississauga. We visited on December 3rd for dinner with some friends. Below is our experience and I wanted to share it with you. Location/Amenities: .5/1 star Iron Chef is located at Eglinton and Tomken road. It’s not as ... visible from the main road but you should find it at the back with plenty of free parking available. The parking lot can be a little dim and feels a bit sketchy but we were able to find the restaurant. Staff: .5/1 star We entered the establishment and unfortunately weren’t greeted until 10 minutes while waiting at the door. Once we were greeted they asked us if we wanted take-out, traditional dine-in or the teppanyaki experience. We chose the teppanyaki experience and shared it with another family. By the time we sat down it was another 20 minutes before we chose our toppings and they brought out the food. Service: 1/1 star Once the chef came out and greeted us, service resumed like normal and we were really happy with the service they provided. They brought our appetizers, drinks and cleaned up our dishes fairly quick so we could enjoy the main dinner. Food: 1/1 star The food was cooked right in front of us and was absolutely delicious.We enjoyed a variety of different meats, seafood, vegetables and rice. It was cooked to perfection and have nothing bad to say. Wow factor: 1/1 star Teppanyaki can be a very fun experience whether it’s a date, with family or a group of friends. The chefs are talented in their craft and will definitely entertain any audience. This is huge in the dining industry and creates a fun, unique experience. I recommend everyone try this at least once. All in all we genuinely had a great time and I would strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area. This place has past its prime. The last time I had went was 2011. Same decor, same paint colors. Half the ligh bulbs around the cooking area didn't work. Our chef wasnt energetic and didn't do many tricks. He was funny and the food was tasty. Thus the three stars ... but for the price there are alot better hibachi options out there. It was a pleasure to take my kids out for dinner to a hibachi style resturant for the first time but due to the lack of tricks, the chef was unable to keep their attention. The staff is amazingly friendly, just expected more from a dinner "show" as other chefs were engaging with thier audience, tossing food, performing alot of tricks, spelling things on the grill. I’ve been going here for YEARS. I’ve done the teppanyaki table, regular dine in, UBER Eats and pick up. Food is always consistent and made very well! I usually get one of the dinner combos and sometimes the sushi. For sushi, they are decent. Not the greatest but definitely good enough ... to get your sushi fix. Their dinner combos are the best! Came here with coworkers at lunch on a Wednesday. Place was empty around noon which I found surprising. Nice, clean place with good ambiance. We did tapenyaki (the chef cooks infront of you). Not my first time, but for some of my coworkers it was. None-the-less it was an enjoyable ... time for most of us. The food was what you'd expect. I got the salmon teriyaki; nothing to write home about, but it was good. Fried rice was ok as was the mixed veggies. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Our chefs were very entertaining and funny and most of us were laughing plenty. However one of my coworkers had requested no rice and extra veggies instead, but the chef missed that or overlooked it while doing his cooking and entertaining, but nothing was done to make up for it. He told the chef and the chef admitted he made a mistake, but didn't say sorry or do anything to make up for it and just kept doing his thing. The chef seemed kind of embarrassed he made this mistake, but nothing was done for my coworker such as just getting some more veggies and cooking it up. So my coworker was not happy and still hungry. We got dessert. They had deep fried banana, deep fried cheesecake, but no deep fried ice cream which is what I had originally wanted like they do at Prince Sushi. I had the cheesecake, it was again alright. Crispy outside with some icing sugar and chocolate drizzle, but the inside was warm and soft unlike fried ice cream which stays cold inside. Unfortunately they don't serve ice cream with their fried banana or fried cheesecake which is hugely disappointing; it's an extra add-on. I think it'd be more pleasing to customers if they halved the dessert portion, but added an ice cream scoop or two. Green tea was good, but you have to flag down the waitress for refills. Place is awesome. Food is great a reasonably priced. Only thing is the chef are not consistent. There is one chef there that is super duper entertaining and the others that i saw are ok. Also, i didn't really like their mixed drinks But still very worth it.
