I had an excellent time here! The service, food, and atmosphere was amazing. Our waiter would continuously make sure that we were topped of on water. Explained the menu, and over all history of the restaurant. With so much to chose from. Most of the meals are great for sharing. My brother in law had a craving for Italian one night and picked Jamie Oliver's at Square One as the location. I must say it does not meet the expectation one would assume the name carries. The food was average at best, mostly under seasoned. The pizzas were all blah, ... much better pizzas for less elsewhere. The appetizers were good but the mains underwhelmed. Service was excellent though because the soup came out stone cold and she immediately took it back for a steaming hot one. All in all, no better than your everyday Eastside Mario's but at higher prices. Read more

Everything was good except for the food, which was average at best. Went on a Friday evening looking for a table for 2, there were still plenty of spots left. The atmosphere felt really good, dim but not like one of those places where you can't see, and lively but not ... noisy. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and they described all the dishes exactly as they were. The dishes themselves weren't that great... The soup we got was nice and hearty, but uninspiring. The steak was pounded flat, and the flavours were all there but the texture wasn't. The gnocchi was made nicely but the sauce was way too acidic. Overall pretty pricey just judging by taste of the food. Probably wouldn't go back, but worth a try. Read more

Service and atmosphere are very nice, but overall this place is quite average. For starters it is difficult to live up to the celebrity chef name but even if you pretended the logo wasn’t there, they don’t really produce anything special. On a Friday evening, the restaurant had a good number ... of vacancies. We ordered the soup of the day, which was a celery root and squash cream soup - rather plain tasting although it was hearty. It also came with a thin stick of focaccia which was good, but it was more flavourful than the soup. We also ordered the gnocchi pomodoro - tomato sauce was very acidic (the reflux it induced tasted less acidic as the sauce) and the gnocchi was okay (al dente but no pattern and bland). We also had the Italian steak and fries, where the steak was pretty dry because of how thinly it was pounded, but the fries were nice and crispy! The service was quick and friendly on the afternoon that I went with my friends. The staff here made it a good experience. The food however was hit and miss. The apps we ordered were delicious. The pasta special that day was also good, although a bit under seasoned, and ... decently priced, however the salad was only ok and the chicken was bland and dry. Would recommend going for apps, pasta and the friendly service, but just remember to add a bit of salt to your pasta! Read more
