Peter’s On Eglinton Restaurant - Mississauga, Ontario

Peter's is a Mississauga staple that we decided to go to to celebrate a birthday. We ordered a variety of dishes and the food was lovely. To start we tried the fried calamari, which came out very quickly. Highly recommend this to start as the calamari was tender and crisp. The ... sauce it comes with goes well with it. We then got a Greek salad 'for two'. This bowl of salad is massive! It came topped with lots of feta and olives which we enjoyed quite a bit. The dressing here is not your typical vinaigrette style but more on the creamy/mayo dressing. It's tasty and again arrives very quickly. We ordered a few different dishes and they all had one thing in common - portions are pretty generous! The steak and eggs were basic. I found the steak was not the best quality but it's worth the price of the dish. The fish dishes were excellent too. The dishes have that home cooked feel which is really nice. Not too greasy or salty. The smoked meat sandwich was huge and the meat was succulent. The only minor issue was that there was no mustard or horseradish in the sandwich which made it a little bit on the dry side. Still good however. We finished with the rice pudding and a couple slices of cake. The rice pudding is lovely! It's a nice end to the meal as it's warm but not too decadent or sweet. Goes really well with coffee. The cakes were quite fresh and simple. They were sponge cakes with buttercream filling. Nothing special but not bad by any means either. Overall, the quality of food is good and the value is there. I would probably not get the steak and eggs again but would definitely return for the souvlaki dishes. Lastly, the staff are lovely here. They were patient and friendly and make you feel at home. The portions of the food were massive. But the food was just average. My food came with the soup of the day and some bread. The soup of the day was salty. And my main course was salmon steak with rice and vegetables. The salmon was alright but the rice ... and vegetables seemed like they didn’t have any flavour at all. The place was extremely busy and the parking lot was full . The service by the staff was good! They were prompt in cleaning the tables and getting the menu for their customers. Read more

Peter's never disappoints. Every time you can count on consistent quality, a charming interior, and huge portion sizes. This gem is a callback to cozy diners of yesteryear and the reasonable prices reflect that. Especially when you consider each order is easily two servings. As others have mentioned: souvlaki and smoked meat deli ... are must tries. What's surprising is that the sides (salad, coleslaw mashed potatoes... Etc) are just as well done as the mains. Which is a testament to their high bar of consistent quality. Places like this are harder and harder to come by as they get replaced by chain restaurants so come and cherish places like these while they're still around! Massive plates and great value at this old school family-run restaurant. My family usually select an Asian restaurant for family gatherings but wanted something different this time. We made reservations for a late Sunday lunch and there was plenty of room for the 12 of us. I liked that we could ... choose from 3 distinct menus; Breakfast, Main and Deli. I chose from the deli menu and had the Smoked Meat Sandwich ($19.95). The dish was massive and I only was able to eat half. It came with plenty of fries and a big portion of coleslaw. Nothing can compare to the deli sandwich I had in New York but this was pretty decent. From the main menu a few people had the Single Halibut Fish & Chips ($21.95), one had the Grilled Baby Beef Liver ($21.95), and one person chose the Breaded Scallops ($26.95). My brother ordered the Chicken Primavera pasta ($24.95) and it was loaded with chicken. He couldn’t finish it and brought the rest home for dinner. All the mains came with soup of the day, rolls and butter. My sister and her husband had the the Small Souvlaki Dinner ($23.95) which was not so small. It came with 3 skewers of pork. My sister commented that the meat was tasty and moist and the dressing on the salad was creamy and flavourful. She couldn’t manage to eat her potato. Again, they ended up taking leftovers home. A few chose to eat appetizers and ordered French Onion au Gratin ($8.95) and Julienne Salad ($18.95), a Tossed Green Salad ($9.95) and Deep Fried Calamari ($23.95). If I could give this 6 stars I would! This was delicious!!! The quality of the meat was really good! 👌 There was so much food I could not finish it. I got take out. Great deal for $35. I got the 'Super Platter for One', which comes with: half rack ribs 6 ... chicken wings 3 chicken fingers with plum sauce 3 breaded shrimp 🍤 with cocktail sauce Lots of fries Everything was really tasty, juicy, and flavourful!
