On May 26, 2024, around 3 am, I was with my cat Inoue in the pet area located in terminal 1 on the outside. There, after 13 hours of flights from my place of origin plus the waiting times between flights, I wanted to let the cat stretch her legs ... and attend to her needs. The cat was in an area specifically designated for pets, wearing a leash and harness. After a while of being there, a transport truck passed by the pet area, and my cat got scared and jumped. At that moment, her harness came off, and she fell off the edge of the "pet-friendly" area, which is not properly adapted for animals or humans. The place lacks appropriate safety measures, with one side facing a highway where cars pass at high speeds and the other side a sheer drop. Unfortunately, my cat fell through that area. After the tragedy, the airport staff was completely unresponsive. They failed to assist me with the situation that occurred within the facility and treated me very indifferently. I suffered significant emotional and financial damage, as I had to cancel my flight to Japan due to the severity of my cat's condition and incurred a large veterinary bill in the hope of her speedy recovery. Through this medium, I demand that the airport authorities properly address this matter, given its seriousness, and provide me with some form of humane and, above all, RESPONSIBLE response regarding the situation. The most crowded airport in Canada. Why is the experience at Pearson always terrible. Irrespective of your flight, the bags never arrive on time. And if you have domestic connections, then good luck with your bags on your final destination. Flew Air Canada on arrival, the connection flight had ... already left.
