From Scratch Italian Bistro - Medicine Hat, Alberta

Awful experience starting from when the owner berated a friend for ordering the caprice salad without mozzarella and oil because she wasn't feeling good but didn't want to miss out on the company. Continued when my order was given to another in the group and it took quite awhile ... for them to then make what I had ordered, the lasagne. There was maybe two small pieces of ground beef and the cheese filling was mostly flour paste. Then the owner came out and further berated some of the group for not finishing their meal. Another couple thought their would be live music (there wasn't) so one of our group went to play the piano to humour them and it was so badly out of tune I'm not sure it had ever been played. The worst though was when we went to pay and they charged us for 9 appetizers when the person who organized it ordered a couple of orders to be shared! Couldn't believe it! 103$ for a few pieces of bread a little chopped tomato. The owner "gave it to us" for 72$, which was still way out of line. Sorry, but this place isn't going to last. Read more

Service was great and food was totally delicious! Had not been here before but would highly recommend! My husband had the lamb and I am not a fan of lamb but after much coaxing, he fed me some and I would certainly eat this! Yummy!! Appetizers were wonderful, my entrée ... great and huge, homemade all! Even the ice cream hit the spot afterwards. Anyone needing a new spot to eat, come on in! Read more

Been a while since I have been in and was talking to a friend about it this evening and thought a review for this place from me was long overdue. Although I have only been in twice for dinner both experiences were nothing short of amazing. Great food, excellent ... service with a warm home like atmosphere. The art work (air brush) done all the way down the wall is incredible and a must see if you haven't already. I also went with a friend not too long ago to the crepe and pie shop on Dunmore Rd apparently the same owner (China) as I learned while having lunch there. One of the best places to eat in Medicine Hat! China (owner) makes you feel like you are home. The food is always changing, and everything tastes AMAZING! Oh and I would highly recommend you try the Italian Nachos for an appetizer, those things have become my addiction. It seriously ... is a hidden Gem of the Hat, you have to go try it out! Read more

Best food in Medicine hat hands Down. This is food made with love. She makes amazing Ice creams and drinks ( like the smoky bacon Caesar) outstanding pastas, and let's not forget it's all made from scratch.
