Tony Roma’s - Medicine Hat, Alberta

Hadn't been to a Tony Romas in years. I had the brisket and it was delicious. I had fries as a side and was a little underwhelmed. All-in-all a tasty meat dish.

Ate there Thurs Feb 1, 2024. 7pm. Was hesitant after reading reviews but was close to hotel. Everything was fantastic. Attentive server. Had jambalaya pasta dish, husband had ribs. Both very tasty. Was not busy. Would highly recommend.

I went in around 7ish with my boyfriend, and everything was going fine until our calamari came out and it was mostly chunks of flour and tasted like the oil in the fryers needed to be changed. We told our server and she didn’t really care all the much but ... got it removed. Right after that we heard our server go into the kitchen (we were seated right by it) and bad mouth tables, cuss about this and that very loudly. Sunday evening visit, called ahead to see if they could handle our group of 7 and were told they don't do reservations, but when we got there they asked if we were the reservation for 8. Hostess was visibly baffled about where to seat us despite most tables being empty. ... It took 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order and since it had been that long at least we had our food orders ready as well. Another 40 minutes for food to arrive. Other groups were leaving as they hadn't seen a server yet. Food portions are very strange. Riblings and the Chicken Spinach Stack were full large plates, but the steak came with 4 pieces of broccoli and a small scoop of potato mash. The kids pasta serving is larger than an adult portion, and the kids chicken strips came with more fries than the adult fish and chips, which was three massive pieces of fish and hardly any fries. Fish was oily but tasty. We had to track the server down to get the kids meal desserts as we only saw her twice in an hour and a half. It seemed like maybe they were short on staff but when asked if there was an estimate on how much longer food would be we were met with blank stares and shrugs. Probably won't be visiting here again. **Update stopped back for another meal wanted fish and chips after seeing the photo of them online. But was a mistake should of stay with what I know that's good which is the steaks. The fish was smaller pieces & also had lots of salt on them. Wouldn't recommend ... the fish...** Was very hungry and wanted a good steak for supper. Well Tony Roma's didn't disappoint other then they had ran out of my favorite steak the Rib Eye. I ordered up a New York strip medium rare and had potato skins for a appy and my fiance had a full rack. The meal was very good and the service was equally as good. The washroom was even top notch and pretty clean unlike some restaurant they get messy and not looked after. It was a bonus that's for sure will be back again for my next craving for a tasty steak.
