Southern Aroma - Markham, Ontario

I’ve been there twice and both times they have given me the wrong items. My friend also had the same experience and she is a vegetarian and they have her mutton item. Please be more organized because otherwise their food is good.

I was driving by when I saw beautiful white tents with lights, perfect ambiance for summer afternoons or evenings & ofcourse following COVID19 rules. I ordered something Authentic after the name of restaurant Southern, I ordered Masala Dosa. The food was served warm with coconut/mint sauce, Sambar & red sauce. ... This place specialises in Sri Lankan cuisine along with Indian dishes as well. We have been here multiple times. The place is not very big. So, expect a little wait time if you plan to go on a weekend dinner. I was very happy with their service every time I ... have come here. We ordered Butter/Plain Naan, Paneer Tikka Masala, Veechu Roti, Mutton Masala Kothu Roti. We also tried unique dishes like Bangalore Bruschetta, Chennai Poutine. First of all I would like to thank the lovely waitress for politely convincing us to switch our order from medium spicy to mild. We could barely take the mild heat. The food was very flavour. Southern aroma has definitely changed from the last time I've come here over 2 years ago. The simplicity of the decor really stood out when you take a seat. We ordered the Colombo Calamari, Chicken and Soy kothu roti. The food took about 18 minutes to come out. This could ... be because we were one of two customers there. The Colombo Calamari had a sweet and sour taste to it. It was not a stand out dish but still, it was delicious. The kothu roti portions are massive. I finished 1/4 of my kothu roti before packing it up. As for taste, it was just like any other kothu. Nothing amazing. Southern Aroma is definitely the place to go if you don't eat Sri Lankan food on daily basis. The premium price for kothu roti makes me want to go to Gasa down the street. Read more
