The Sweet & Sour Lean Pork Rice Combo ($13.99 - 802 on the menu) was exceptional. The generous portion of meat was perfectly fried and seasoned, and the taste was spot on. I also tried the Soup Dumplings (901 and 902), and they were delicious, especially with the Buy One Get ... One For Free promotion. The service was excellent, with a very attentive and friendly waitress. Read more
Always on Point ! The Red is a family and friends favourite in the Markham area and we have been going there for many years. The decor is the same as it was for the past few years and it gives the place a familiar feeling when we visit. Although I ... have been here many times I have yet to give The Red a review. We mainly eat here for the spicy Sichuan dishes but the staff is great and if we have little ones or people who aren't into spice they always modify their dishes to accommodate us. On this visit, we had a few of our favourite dishes such as Deep-fried diced Tofu w/Spicy Sauce, Live Lobster, assorted Dumplings and some others. The food on this visit and others was top notch with good portion sizes and priced at a good level, especially the lobster. We loved the food as always on this visit and we will be back again soon. There are specific dishes I like here - cold spicy chicken, Dan Dan noodles, green beans with minced meat. Those are always delicious. I’ve tried a few others which are not my faves but I have yet to try the rest of the dishes. Be careful when eating the delicious ... spicy cold chicken. The chicken is cut into small pieces with sharp bone shreds everywhere. If you’re not used to eating meat with bone splinters, it can be very dangerous. Otherwise, the flavour of the sauce is deep, has many layers of spiciness, sweetness, a touch of wine maybe which makes it quite addicting. Service is quick enough even if it seems they’re under staffed. They have an iPad to show the name of the food and the photo of the dish. For non-Chinese customers, this is ideal. Read more
The Red Sichuan Cuisine is a restaurant I visited once when it first opened many years ago. I only tried their Dan Dan noodles at that time and thought they were good. This time, with a larger group, I finally had the opportunity to try their proper main dishes. The Salty ... Roasted Pork Belly, which is essentially Meicai Kou Rou, uses high-quality pork belly, so the taste is definitely great. If you don't eat spicy food, you can order this dish. The Fuqifeipian were impressive. The beef and beef tripe were of excellent quality and quantity. Even the small portion was worth it. The Spicy Duck Tongue was decent, must order if you like duck tongue. The peanuts were also tasty. The Boiled Fish in Spicy Broth should be good, but unfortunately, it was too spicy for me. The Dry Pot Pig Intestines had only one downside: the intestines were washed too clean, and the layer of fat was missing. For dessert, We ordered the Sweet Distiller's grains Mini Rice ball and Brown Sugar Rice Cakes,The rice ball are always a safe bet, but the brown sugar rice cakes had too much sweet sauce, making them overly sweet.
