Chef Chan - Markham, Ontario

Edit: they are closed to the end of March 2024. No answering machine message or anything other than a sign on the door. It's a shame b/c I was really craving some Chef Chan today. Great Chinese takeout place - I'm never disappointed with the quality of food or ... service. Food quality is comparable to a sit-down Chinese restaurant like Congee Queen or Asian Legend, but less expensive, as this is a takeout only place. My wife and I each enjoy the 'dinner for one' deals with an option for noodles, and the sweet and sour chicken balls are very nicely done. It's great in a pinch when we're too busy to cook dinner. We just moved to Markham and tried the food and we loved it. We found our new local amazing Canadian Chinese Food restaurant.

I have ordered take out here a couple of times a year and it was always decent. Not sure what happened but the order we picked up for our annual New Year’s Day dinner was terrible. Peppers in the beef with black bean were raw, bland Singapore noodle, brutal egg ... rolls. Never going back. Read more

Wonderful family and I love how they teach their children to help with the family business. Fresh Cantonese cuisine. Mapo Tofu and mushroom fried rice was delicious 💯

SORRY guys, we’ve been a LOYAL customer for over a decade and then some ( lost track ). We moved from Markham and have NOT found a replacement for Chef Chan. We used too call in an order and they would recognize our voice and parrot our order too us. It’s a ... little hole in the wall place, a little nook at the GO station. If you’d blink you’d miss it, but boy was it a very special place There good people and we felt valued. However I think there been a change, and not for the better It’s been about 2 years since we’ve been back to Chef Chan. Our last two dinners were so bad the food wasn’t finished and THROWN OUT! Yes, we gave them another chance, because they WERE that good. It was always a race to the kitchen for the leftovers. Especially for a General or Sesame chicken sandwich on a crusty bread. General Tao (?) - If he was as good a General as our meal was , then they lost their battle. Sesame Chicken - Bland and I know it’s been my favourite for years. Curry something - It was a sloppy mess of “ I think it’s curry, right? “ If it wasn’t for the colour, you wouldn’t have known what you were eating. Shrimp dish - Was ok, but ok was for other restaurants not Chef Chan House rice - Fortunately that has never failed, but it’s NOT enough to keep us?
