Sushi Palace Longueuil - Longueuil, Quebec

After witnessing a table of three teenagers loudly chew out the server for politely inquiring into their lack of gratuity, I can now understand where all these "bad" reviews come from. Listen. If you are under the age of 25, describe yourself as a "student", and/or can barely afford to go ... to a restaurant with a $25 all-you-can-eat menu, maybe--JUST MAYBE--going out is not for you. Especially if you can't afford to tip. And arguing with a server (who is admirably keeping her composure) over your own cheapness makes you look like a jackass. They're not the problem. YOU ARE. Asshat-table notwithstanding, we had a lovely time! The $25 price tag for all-you-can-eat seemed fairly standard to us (as people who eat sushi on the reg.). The mix of hot dishes AND sushi was a refreshing change of pace and we took full advantage of both menus. (That lamb was dope.) Oh, and don't get me started on their cocktails. Instead of all you-can-eat, can it be all-you-can-drink? Cause damn. To hell with the sushi, I'll have a liquid dinner, please. Cause my mojito was on point. All in all, we thought the experience was worth the convenience of a 10 minute walk from our home. Our bill came out to about what it would have if we'd gone to the island for dinner and had a couple of drinks there. Me and my friend were at Place Longeuil and didn't know where to eat, and since Saint Hubert had a huge line so we decided to try this out. I am a sushi fanatic and this was overall pretty good, but the only thing I didn't like was the price ... for what they offered. We are both students and their service was really nice, friendly and helpful, the menu was a little confusing but we managed, we ordered a lot of Nigiri and sashimi, they said if we ordered one we get two, but somehow we only ended up with one, so that was confusing. We ordered a lot of Maki (pictures) and futo Maki, which were really delicious! We had a bit of everything but for the hot menu, we are planning on going back to try it out. Like I said, it's very good, quality is alright, the only thing I'd say is questionable is any white fish, it's not really what they say it is, it tasted like Talapia when it was actually marked as white tuna...now, I have eaten a lot of sushi and most places offer "white tuna" and instead give Escolar (a cheaper white fish substitute) but they seemed to have given us Talapia instead, so that isn't so bad-- but what can you expect from an "All you can eat" Sushi place? It was good, neither of us had stomach aches or anything like other places in Montreal have done before. We went on a Monday evening, it was really relaxed. I loved the atmosphere, it's suitable for large groups too! I would recommend it, sincerely give it a try, the only thing as mentioned is the price. There is no way we ate 60$ worth of sushi, and tipping shouldn't be mandatory 15%. 4/5 Liked it, will go maybe once more, definitely not my favorite. Read more

Worst place ever. If you wouldn't like to be insulted, stay away from this place. It was our first and last visit. We are students that wanted to have a little fun. First off all, our waiter was extremely arrogant. Second of all, when it came to tips, we left 4 $ ... of tips, our bill was around 50$. We would give more if they were not so slow. Finally, the guy said that we HAVE TO GIVE FROM 10 TO 15 %. Since when did tips became an obligation?? And then he said "If you don't want to pay, next time you can go a fast food place". We have eaten at many sushi restaurant in Montreal and the greater Montreal and this is by far our favorite. Very Good service when you are courteous and tip the waiter. The food is very good, tasty and well prepared (I especially like the black-pepper and honey Beef beside the ... sushi's). And the price on the weekdays (up until 5 pm) are very reasonable 15.95$ a volonté, after that it falls to 22$ which is still not that pricy compared to other places in Montreal that sells quality sushi as this place but for a lot more $$. My son and I go for all-you-can-eat sushi once in a while and we can do a lot of damage to the profit margin(!). We recently went here and found the portions to be decent, the fish excellent, and the service really friendly. The only thing that bothered me (and ... not an isolated complaint with just this restaurant) is that sometimes pieces are selected and never received. Overlooked or out-of-stock, I'd like to have the experience that I want when I go to eat. But we'll be back! P.S. I'd give the same review for the Boucherville Sushi Palace. Read more
