Buffet Fu Lam - Longueuil, Quebec

No. Don't do it. The reviews are not unfair, they are accurate. They are not exaggerating. It won't be "fun to try it". You will regret it. You will be out $80 for a date night, and you will physically not be able to eat enough ... food to justify it as a "guilty buffet night". The staff at this restaurant are nice, but we could tell from the moment we walked inside that this place is barely hanging on. As soon as we agreed to eat, the staff looked surprised that we even wanted to eat here, we were rushed over to a tablet to pay $35+tax per person, and then pointed to the buffet. I will restate: There is not enough edible food at this buffet to justify $35. You think I am joking, but you cannot even count on the "regular" items like egg rolls, noodles, chicken balls, sauce, etc... Everything was either rock-hard, dry as a bone, or looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamps for hours. I don't like writing reviews like this, and we went here to try to see if the 1.7/5 stars was people being mean... but this place needs to shut its doors for 3 weeks, get a loan to make improvements, train the cooks to increase the quality of the food, and reopen with update lighting, decor, and buffet options. The cloth/paper banner over the logo should have been an indicator. This restaurant looks like it has not been updated since before BILL 101 was signed, they threw a white banner that says "BUFFET CHINOIS" over the sign that says "CHINESE BUFFET" and then completely gave up on this venue. It was a depressing date night, we felt terrible for the staff that were trying to be nice and polite and attentive... but mostly we were upset that we paid to eat cardboard meat, deep-fried batter, and soggy vegetables for $80. I feel like they stole my time and money, they charge $34 and don’t provide food. Plus the charge tips automatically and don’t provide any service. They bring me water when I was already living .Very pure selection of food, almost nothing to eat, and all meat dishes doesn’t taste ... good and all. Read more

***update what happened. Are they trying to go out of business?**** Haven't been to a buffet for the last 2 years since the pandemic. Our waiter Jackie made our experience one to remember. My son decided he wanted to go here for his 16th birthday celebration. We all enjoyed it. Food ... choices were surprisingly vast. The egg rolls were as good as I remembered. The chicken wings were delicious and I had just a complete plate of it. Upon entry to the buffet I mentioned to Jackie that it was my son's birthday. And what I appreciated and made me give a 20% tip was when we finished our meal Jackie brought a dessert plate with a candle for my son. Obviously the price for the buffet has gone up since they all closed but we all enjoyed it and will go back. We'll worth it and as good maybe even better than Fu Lam that it replaced. Read more

First time to be in this place. No wasn't bad. Tried wonton soup kids liked it. I tried the mushroom spicy soup, the taste was odd. Most food when we came in at 4:30 are old food look like left over from day before, after about 15 mins all ... new fresh cook are out which we like. Salmon, calami fries, shrimp and noodles was good. Not much of a choices though compare to other buffets. The place is clean, the server was kind and friendly. The food adapted to its clientele. There isnt much variation/selection. Got some undercooked food (ex.mushrooms), plus it is in general very salty and a little bit cold.
