State & Main Kitchen & Bar - London, Ontario

I've ate in and ordered take out a bunch of times from State & Main. Delicious menu with plenty of choice. I haven't had a meal I didn't enjoy. Service is always great, and the atmosphere is happening and modern.

We’ve visited this location on more than one occasion. The staff are always pleasant, the food has largely been consistent and fresh, and the atmosphere is inviting as well. However, despite all that, there’s nothing to make it “special” or a must eat location. The menu has a fair range of ... options and, like already mentioned, has been consistent in freshness. But there hasn’t been an item we’ve had that screams “amazing” or “oh my god you HAVE to eat here”. The best way to describe State and Main is that it’s good, you won’t be disappointed, but it’s forgettable - which is unfortunate because of the net positives one can experience here. We will likely eat here again, but likely as an option if no other locations have capacity for our small group. Read more

Mac and cheese is always a solid pick. Can’t really mess that up. But this was the first time I got the enchilada based off the servers recommendation. It was that or the burger or fish and chips. I was hungry so I ate it but it wasn’t anything special. ... Mostly tortilla and then tortilla chips to eat more tortilla, just no filling, all lettuce on top. She said it was spicy and had jalapeño… I didn’t taste any spice. Barely saw any jalapeño. It was meh, $19 for that maybe isn’t worth it. I usually get apps when I go there so I’ll stick to that next time. It’s been hit or miss with the main courses. I think the issue is the flow of traffic, a lot of restaurants are experiencing this right now. Higher food costs, less people eating out. It will all translate into the customer experience. First time in this restaurant. For starter, we ordered a Margherita Flatbread, It was tasty, a good size to share up to 4 people, but a bit spicier than what we expected. My main dish, as you can see on the photo, was the Truffle & Shrimp Rigatoni. ABSOLUTELY ... DIVINE. I finished the night sharing a Cinnamon Bun Bread Pudding, a good surprise for me because the desserts have a separate menu, so when I placed my order with starter and main dish, I though we wouldn't have a dessert to end the meal. it has a balanced amount of sweetness on it, we loved it. I had the honey Cajun chicken. It was fantastic, clear talent in the kitchen. But I was really wanting more. I held back 1 star, or table had a couple soups which were cold. Waitress replaced it with slightly warmer soup?
