Restaurant Calvi - Laval, Quebec

We went for a colleague’s retirement lunch. Lovely atmosphere! Lovely staff. Service overall was great. I wasn’t particularly happy about my choice of main dish. I wanted to try something different and should have asked more questions about my order. I didn’t realize the Ravoili was a vegetarian option. I ... think it had mushrooms not so sure now. I didn’t enjoy it and would probably scarred from trying out this dish elsewhere. However, others who ordered steak and the rice dish enjoyed theirs. It looked yummy and even made eating mine more difficult.🤣😂 The salad was really good, desert was good as well and the wine compensated for my lack of enthusiasm for the main dish. It's a modern well decorated restaurant. Average service but horrible food. Some one needs to change the menu , add flavor, change the presentation make the portion slightly bigger. All 3 courses I was served won't fill one plate, no taste in soup or salad , steak was not 12oz as shown ... in the menu and was over cooked almost burned for all us on the table ordering medium. This place is okay, but it's not authentic. The octopus was really good, but very small portion. The calamari was okay, nothing special, there was no tentacles. The truffle pasta was okay also and the risotto dish came with a big piece of Osso bucco, was not expecting to have a big piece ... of Osso bucco, I thought it would be bone off. But I can say that the creme brulee was really good The service was actually amazing, the waiter was really friendly. I had ordered an espresso martini with my dessert but they had forgotten to put khalua in it and it taste horrible, when I told the waiter about it he was doubting me on why I wanted to return the drink back but then he realized that it was the khalua that was missing in the drink, he brought me khalua in a glass so I can mix it in my drink. This place seemed to be more of a place for groups, they had private rooms. If you are celebrating a birthday party or a big get together in Laval with Italian type of food, I think it's a good choice. Read more

Went on a weekday evening, hardly anyone there but yet the service was lacking. Caesar salad was made with green lettuce instead of romaine. Became very soggy. Plates did not look nice. Steak was very hard to chew. Where was the veggies in the ... shrimp and veggies dish? Cold and tough shrimp. And the ravioli was just ok. I expected so much more from this restaurant. Worst service EVER .. blaming it on « Covid » Is not an excuse! Can’t even tell you who was the waiter except he had black hair serving front portion of the restaurant! Completely ignoring us .. table of 6 … acting like he dosent here us … the service was difficult ... from the first minutes in and the Fkn 4 hours after !! It was my birthday.,impossible to eat the « fish » he recommended after I tried to order the « seabass » .. I returned the dam fish for the « kitchen »to return the same fish but all cut up … uncooked 🤨 waiter dint give a fly that I ate or not until I requested the bill and started to talk load how horrible the waiter was and how « he « Wasn’t looking even to my face … well He looked at me and said «  I’m here now « So I gave him my $.50 cents and told him never again I will come !!!
