Healthy Monkey Cafe - Langley, British Columbia

I've been here twice now, and both times it has been empty. Yet it still takes 25 minutes for a burrito, which is decent at best. Staff seems "bored" and "annoyed". Sad looking displays in the front. I understand why it's usually empty here now. Will not return.

I had a really mixed experience. Staff were great and the food was quick. My issues were: 1) paid extra for avocado and didn't receive it 2) item description didn't list cucumbers and they were in my item and they make me sick. 3) no soap in the washroom 4) no method ... to dry my rinsed, not washed, hands. I like the idea of this place, but it falls short every time I have eaten here. I work close by so I have tried eating here at least 10 times and honestly with the exception of 2 times, my orders are always wrong. I order off their menu and ... the price at the till is always significantly more than what the menu price is. Their toasted sandwiches are often soggy and still so cold that the cheese inside isn't melted. I will say that the staff are all super nice. Read more

Great food! Every dish has been specifically created to be tastiest possible Gluten-free/Vegan/Vegetarian/Organic (whatever your dietary need!). In other words, it's been designed to be healthy *and* tasty, instead of just being a compromised version of something else on the menu. The staff is very friendly, and VERY knowledgeable about ... their menu - whatever your dietary need, ask and they shall answer. Prices are more than reasonable for something this good! Only reason for a 4-star review (and not 5) is the decor, which is "eclectic" and not exactly trendy, and feels more like a cafeteria than many modern lunch spots in the area. Could have used a bit of carefully-chosen background music to set the mood, but the place was clean and well-kept. But if you care more about the food than the curtains, you are going to LOVE it, especially if you have specific dietary needs. Read more

Healthy Monkey Cafe is one of those places you go to for a healthy kick in your day. I had the Monkey Scramble with egg whites and the Veggie Greens Medley smoothie. The veggie smoothie was definitely a winner here and I often find myself craving these from time ... to time. The monkey scramble was a bit of a disappointment, in my opinion. As an avid breakfast/brunch person, I found the scramble a bit bland in flavor, eggs were over cooked and the kitchen staff also forgot to add the cherry tomatoes. When I brought it to the attention of the staff, I was told that they typically use whole eggs and that cherry tomatoes is an extra add-on (even though it was part of the item description on the menu). Rather than further argue, I ate it anyway and was on my way. The smoothie earns the 3-star rating but the customer service maintains it at just that. Read more
