Original Joe’s - Langford, British Columbia

We ordered pickup for our family. Service upon pickup was great, atmosphere of restaurant was good, unfortunately, the food was the complete opposite. Just under half our order of wings had no sauce on them at all. Both the chicken strips and fish and chips were mostly batter and ... over fried (both protein and fries). The chicken strips were also crazy dry. With the fish and chips, there was a small scoop of slaw in the same container as the fish and fries (getting warmed up) but they also packed a separate container of slaw, so, I’m not entirely sure why the scoop of slaw with the fish and chips wasn’t just put in the side container. We ended up adding our own sauce to the wings, made nuggets for our son, since he wouldn’t touch the strips (can’t blame him) and paid $55 for the hassle (not including tip). On the upside, the slaw in the separate container wasn’t bad. We used to order from here a semi-frequently, but hadn’t in a couple years (for no particular reason). We noticed they changed the hostess set-up for the better and it led to much faster pick-up service than before. This was also a Saturday night, before 6pm. Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. I've been here so many times and have never been disappointed. The menu is very full with lots of great options and deals. Prices are also very reasonable. Staff is always so amazing, takes orders right away and checks up on people. Food is also ... delivered pretty quickly. 10/10 recommend. Read more

Server was great - very friendly and accommodating. We arrived at 5:30 on a Thursday and had no problem getting a table for 7. Restaurant was quiet enough to carry on a conversation, which is a nice change from all the noisy restaurants out there. Burgers were ... good, chips were amazing, my youngest approved of his chicken fingers. I found my pulled pork a little dry, could have used more sauce. The coleslaw was a little dry too. But that may be their style. Prices were ok, slightly above average, but portions are large. You get two sides with your burger - I don't think anyone finished their entire meal. The food was decent, but the calamari was so dry 😩 and seemed like it was just breading ... it wasn't. Believe me, I checked every piece I consumed

It felt like we didn't matter. It took twenty or more minutes for our server to take our order. Nothing complicated, just asked for the burger sauce on the side because the people at the next table had a lot more sauce than we prefer. Then we waited again. I didn't ... time it so this is only a guess, but another table came in after we ordered and recieved their food before we got ours. We waited more than a half hour. The place was busy but not at capacity. When we did get our food, it looked good. However, it was barely warm. The burger was well done and dry so I think it was sitting under the heat lamps for a while. Burger, warm but dry (the sauce on the side helped). Fries, just warm, onion rings, again just warm. However, the portions were generous and I was happy with the side selections. My veggies and dip were crispy and fresh and the ceasar salad was exceptional. Then there was another long wait, at least twenty more minutes waiting for the bill even though the server looked our way at least four times after our plates were cleared. Maybe she was waiting to see if we would hang around for supper where she might offer better service. Not likely.
