Jacks Place - Langford, British Columbia

Really loud on a Tuesday night because of the Stanley Cup game. Our server Hamika was very nice and friendly and accommodating. The menu is really good, prices are decent and a really nice atmosphere other than the hockey game on every TV

Atmosphere: Cold, unwelcome environment. Seat yourself. Service: Started off ok, and was mostly attentive however had an attitude and was defensive. Food: Cesar salad: inedible. So much dressing it drowned the brownish lettuce. Hard End pieces of lettuce not even flavored Mozza Bacon mushroom burger: really good flavor, lots of mushrooms. Onion ring was perfect. ... Hardly any sauce on the burger and it dry, Did not come with ketchup. Had to ask for a side of it. Waitress seemed a bit defensive about needing it. "Gluten-free " jacks burger: They say their is the ability to make it gf, what they mean is no gf bun, and chopped up lettuce for a "lettuce wrap" but doesn't actually wrap around the meat. It's eaten with fork and knife burger. A pathetic excuse. It was Awful! Greasy, no flavor and the lettuce was brown! Also because it was gf, they decided to put a FULL GLUTEN onion ring on top?! Way to poison someone who may have celiac. (Waitress asked are you ok to pick it off? I am, however some one else may not be.) I picked it off and gave to my hubby. But definitely not impressed. *** Allergies/sensitivities its not taken seriously here. Gluten-free spinach and artichoke dip. Husband decided to have the pita bread, and I the tortillas chips I asked if they were wheat or corn. Waitress said I think corn. Never confirmed. And when they brought it out, the pita bread was right next to the tortillas chips. Cross contamination. Again poor understanding of allergens & sensitive eating. Worst service ever. I would have understood if the restaurant was very busy but it was already past dinner time and not busy when we came but they served us dirty dishes which okay, anyone could make mistakes but then they proceeded to ignore us the whole time when we ... were actively trying to ask for water. There is no beating this location. Located just steps outside Westin Bear Mountain resort, it is a prime location for a good meal outside of heading to Langford. The restaurant is cozy, service was quick, and my drinks overfloweth. Appetizers were solid. The wings were on point, the potato skins were ... tasty, and the fish tacos held together despite my clumsy fingers (did not try the sliders, but others on the table said they were good). For main course I ordered steak and sushi (spicy tuna rolls, to be exact). I asked my steak to be made rare (with trepidation), and thankfully the restaurant delivered (except for the tips on both sides, which was understandably difficult to get right). I found the sushi to be mild, though, which was rather disappointing, but the steak seasoning was great. Other diners on my table ordered halibut and chips, he enjoyed it. The linguini was also good, according to my neighbor, but he couldn't finish it due to the generous portion. Food was good, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We loved the menu, so much variety and everyone from our group was happy and excited to order their food. The food was delicious too, would definitely come back for the whole experience!
