8$ large Tom yum soup ?? Joke 3 pieces of chicken and 5 chunks of mushrooms nothing else , zero other vegetables, no tomatoes. Taste not bad.
I recently dined at Sabhai Thai Restaurant, and I must say that my experience was rather disappointing. While the establishment has been touted as offering authentic Thai cuisine, the food fell short of my expectations. Let's start with the food itself. I found it to be merely average, lacking the distinctive ... flavors and spices that are characteristic of authentic Thai cuisine. I would instead describe them as average Asian dish but not something “Thai”. (and…at the first place I got the wrong dish from another customer. 😅) The roll for lunch set tasted something Chinese rather than Thai which is very weird for me…you can still call that Asian though but not Thai I’m 100% sure. The dish my friend ordered, specifically the noodles, was disappointingly salty. When she brought this concern to the attention of our waiter, we were taken aback by the response we received. The waiter's attitude was far from accommodating, responding with, "Isn't it what you asked for?" (Exact wording - I didn’t make this up) I don’t know if it’s common in Canada, but to us this kind of response was both unprofessional and discourteous for someone who asked for a tip after the meal. While I understand that everyone's taste preferences may vary, I cannot recommend Sabhai Thai Restaurant based on my experience. The lack of authentic flavors, the salty noodles, and the dismissive attitude displayed by the waiter were significant drawbacks to an otherwise ordinary dining experience. With so many other Thai restaurants in the area to choose from, I would suggest exploring other options before considering a visit to Sabhai Thai Restaurant. Read more
Best Thai food in Canada. Their papaya salad is the best I've had in North America... even LA can't compete. Basil pork and prawn fried rice are excellent as well. The portions are double that of other places and the prices are very reasonable. However, the bamboo beef curry and ... their juices were lacking. I also didn't care for the garlic fried pork dish. Still the best Thai restaurant in Canada. Will visit every time I'm on Vancouver Island. Read more
Food and service very good. The layers of flavors shine through on most dishes. We had guests over for a BBQ but weather did not cooperate. Decided to order from here due to guests being from South East Asia. All but one dish amazing. The two half chickens we ordered ... were on the dry side. All other dishes amazing though. Will definitely return here for more. Read more
If you are craving Thai then this is your place…as the food was excellent and we were both hungry, taking pictures of our food was an after thought. With that said, we both had soup (chicken hot’n sour soup and prawn coconut soup) and entrees (chicken pad Thai and basil ... seafood), everything was great. On top of all of this, wine prices are excellent…nice to find a restaurant that doesn’t try to gouge you on a bottle. Read more
