Canoe and Paddle - Lakefield, Ontario

Sat down in the backyard patio for the Canada Day long weekend. The hostess was great, but the waitress (pale girl with tattoos) ignored us. After a half hour without even getting a water, we decided to get up and leave. As soon as we got up, she came running ... to provide service to us (she knew she messed up). We told her "no" and as we were leaving, I caught her giving us a dirty look. I wish I could rate the food, but I never got the opportunity to try it. Being ignored by your staff seems to be a common occurrence over there. We waited for 30 minutes, and the waitress didn't even bother taking our drink order. The other waitress was chatting it up with the kitchen staff. The restaurant was not busy. There were maybe 5 tables total ... on the patio. Reply to Owners response: Where in my review did I say I had a negative reaction from your staff? And no, I’m not associated with all those who left a one star. I overheard other tables having the same issues, waiting for their bills and whatnot. And yes it was a 30 minute wait because I texted someone just as we got seated, and that text was 30 minutes. No one likes an owner that can’t take accountability for their restaurants poor management. Read more

First time at this small town gem of a restaurant as we passed through on route from cottage to home for a Sunday dinner. Busy place so we took to the bar for a beverage while awaiting for our patio table. The hostess/waitress was very personable and had great charm ... as she got our drinks and shared her fave menu items while allowing us to put our meal order in before hitting the patio. Once seated outside, our meal arrived shortly…spicy chicken sandwich for me and the Big Ben burger for my wife. Both were huge portions, mine with sweet potato fries and my wife’s with fresh fries. Both meals were tremendous and I could hardly open wide enough to bite down on my spicy (wasn’t too 🌶️) chicken as it was huge! My boyfriend and I came to this lovely place for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. We both got the “porky pig” a pulled pork sandwich with a salad and it was amazing. I personally suggest the lock 26 to drink, I will be going home to try and recreate ... it. Our server was splendid, the older gentle man beside us referred to him as curly locks. He was very kind, welcoming and is extremely good at his job. Definitely our new favourite restaurant. If you don’t believe me when I say how good this place is you should know that I have never left a review on a restaurant before but this place is so good I just had to let other people know! Amazing food! Best buttermilk chicken I've ever had! Garlic cheese and bacon Flatbread was excellent! Service was friendly and the hustle was good. Only suggestion I would have is the fries are over done. Overall a great experience!
