EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...My significant other and I came here after hearing good things from friends... we came on a Saturday evening recently (wasn't busy) and our experience started out well, with (free) warm bread/pita served with quality olive oil. We then had the Mushroom Flatbread as an appetizer and it too ... was delicious. Unfortunately our experience went downhill from there...I ordered the Beef Tenderloin medium rare and I received it extremely well-done. I mentioned this to the server who apologized and took my dish. I could overhear the chef complaining about having to re-do my steak. By the time I received my new steak, my significant other was done his meal and we were unable to enjoy our dishes together. My new steak tasted MUCH better, but I was off-put to find a piece of my old steak on my plate and that the mashed potatoes and vegetables on my plate were the ones from my original dish. My significant other ordered the Herb-Crusted Beef Tenderloin medium rare and his ended up coming out medium and not with the side it was supposed to come with (menu said it came with rosemary friend potatoes)but instead he received mashed potatoes. The beef tenderloin was also not "herb crusted" as advertised-- instead it was identical to the dish I myself ordered. We were not compensated whatsoever for our meal and left feeling disappointed. We will unfortunately not be returning to this restuarant. Read more
Second time coming here & it was just as wonderful as the first time (last fall - before a show at the CITS) ! Don't let the neighbourhood & outer building shell fool you. This is FINE DINING with lovely stone decor inside & a gorgeous atmosphere. The food is ... DELICIOUS !! Upon seating, we were offered water, warm bread & oil. My lovely wife had a nice red wine & I had ice tea (they don't serve mixed drinks). For the meal itself - we started with the Mixed Mushroom Flatbread (sooooo tasty!). YUM ! My wife had the Herb Crusted Beef Tenderloin & I had the Louisiana Cajun Sirloin Steak . Both meals were amazing - served with potatoes, grilled zucchini & fresh asparagus. Kudos to the chef, for not holding back on the spice for the Cajun Sirloin. I had a nice little forehead crown sweat going. Sadly, we didn't have room for dessert - but we can only imagine that it would have been quite memorable, as well. We have to drive an hour to and from The Twin Cities, so that alone should let you know that this is a place worth visiting. Make it your next destination stop for a special culinary experience !! My spouse and I had our birthday celebration dinner here and the food was fantastic, irresistible, and flavourful. The serving size was massive and consisted a lot of side veggies with so much good flavours. I ordered a grilled 10 oz NY strip loin for about $30, but it was ... one of the best steaks I've ever had in a long time; much better than the Keg. I don't regularly eat veggies but I do when I'm eating at Stonegate Bistro. Also don't forget their desserts; I had the best crème brule at Stonegate that I never had in a long time. Highly recommended to fine diners and date nights. Read more
My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved it. The food was plentiful and delicious. The ambiance was warm and inviting with lovely music in the background. The service was very friendly and accommodating, we felt like guests in their home. The price was very ... reasonable. We will definitely be back! Read more
Great decor and atmosphere, but food was a let down. The free bread and pita was either burnt or over salted depending on the piece. Tasted like it was cooked on the BBQ. To start I had the mushroom and goat cheese soup which had barely any taste with goat cheese ... just thrown on. Presentation looked like I microwaved leftovers at home. Significant other had the weirdest looking French onion soup. Menu said it had Monterey jack cheese but all I could see was some parmesan on a price of the free bread they gave us haphazardly thrown on. For the main meal I had the tuna. You could taste that it was a frozen packaged cut that was then seared. For the price I paid I would have liked a fresh piece of fish. It came with what the menu called wild rice but was actually burnt and mushy couscous, and a half burnt half raw eggplant end. My significant other had the strip loin steak which tasted pretty good, however it should have been better for the price. She wasn't given a steak knife either. Won't be going back any time soon especially with so many great options within walking distance. Was a shame. Read more
