The food is great, but a bit pricey for smaller portions. They recently changed their rewards program, and swore it was for the better, but it's actually worse. Pretty disappointed! Went to Mercury Cafe for a to-go lunch today with a friend. When we arrived, we were the only 2 in the restaurant. The cashier was friendly enough but the cook was too busy purchasing a discount spa package from a door to door sales person to notice our ... orders going in. After a long conversation with the sales woman she finally purchased her deal and started on our order. 15 minutes later, my friend's sandwich (ham and cheese) was finally done. I waited..and waited for my order...and finally had to ask the cashier where it was. She just told me that it wasn't started yet and offered no apology (I had ordered first). We waited another 5 minutes when finally I see a patty being placed on the grill. I was so angry with the lack of courtesy of both the cashier and the cook that I asked for a refund stating that I would take my custom elsewhere. A 3rd person came out to assist me with the refund and while she was pleasant to deal with, she didn't seem to mind that I was asking for a refund after waiting about 30 minutes for a burger and fries in an uncrowded restaurant. To her credit, she did offer me a muffin on the house for my trouble, but it was a pasty tasteless gloop so I ended up throwing it out. By the time we got back to our office, my friend's sandwich and fries were cold and said that her food was not very good. I have worked in downtown Kitchener for 12 years and NEVER have I ever experienced such poor service. I will never go back and will advise my coworkers to steer clear. Read more

Mercury Cafe recently joined Just Eat. I left an order with Mercury Cafe and waited a good while to receive my email notification that the resto received my order only to learn from Just Eat that the resto turned down my order. Turns out Mercury Cafe was doing an event ... of some sort, looking bad on their part if they want to join the Just Eat team. Read more
