Edelweiss Tavern - Kitchener, Ontario

Stopped in for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Food was very good, with a wide selection for adults. Kids selection was good, but limited as always. Beer selection was 'ok', with many of the taps being generics but both the local beers I had were good quality ... pours. The mocktails my wife had were enjoyed a lot. Will definitely be back, we sat outside today but I reckon the atmosphere inside during a sporting event would be great. Looking forward to it. Read more

Easy place to visit for a casual snack. Small Won ton nacho platter was huge and they accommodated our son’s request for fries and mac/cheese. Craft beer on tap too.

Edelweiss is a time machine to an earlier Kitchener. Here's what I mean by that. The food here is heavily influenced by Bavarian and German traditions. Their schnitzel and sauerkraut is without a doubt some of the best in the region. It's definitely a "hidden gem" in that not a lot ... of people might consider it a place to visit. But it's definitely worth it. I had the half-dinner Cajun schnitzel, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes (as you can tell I got ahead of myself before taking the picture) and it's incredible. They have a modern take on some items, in that they do serve wonton nachos for example(which are incredibly generous portions), but they are incredibly loyal to their roots. The cost is on the more expensive side, but the portions are incredibly generous. The half-dinner was enough for me to have leftovers and not worry about dinner. I marked a little bit lower on the atmosphere only because it's a fairly dark bar with little natural lighting, but when it's the summer they have an outdoors patio to take advantage of. They also have a great beer selection, if you like wheat beers Erdinger is a great option. Either way, a great place to visit. Read more

Came with a group of friends. Lots of space available for a big group when calling ahead. Servers were very friendly and got drink orders right away. Food came fairly quickly, and they were good portion sizes. Prices have increased over time but that seems to be par for the ... course most places these days. Jason and Krista and the Edelweiss catering team were instrumental in our wedding going so well! They were very prompt with email communications during the planning process and answering any questions we had. They knew the venue and how to set it up to optimize the space. The tables were ... set beautifully and the food was delicious, everyone had nothing but great things to say! The servers and bartenders were professional, friendly, and wonderful to work with during our wedding. Jason was present for dinner and able to help out food allergy guests with the menu which was a huge help given it was a buffet dinner for 50 people. We couldn't have planned our wedding without Edelweiss' help and expertise. Thank you for making the night so great! Read more
