The Powerhouse Restaurant - Hamilton, Ontario

The atmosphere was beautiful! The service and food was wonderful. Our waitress was so attentive and accommodating. I look forward to coming back again!

I have to start by saying I’m pleasantly surprised with the changes here. Over a decade ago this used to be our go to place. Then ownership changed and the menu went downhill. I visited here this week with my kids because it was convenient and shockingly enough, the menu ... was much better! I have dietary concerns, as does my son and they were accommodated no problem. Food - I ordered the falafel salad, but I swapped the oranges (I can’t eat those) for beets. The salad was wonderful and the tahini sauce was a nice pairing. My kids both had burgers and fries. My one son can’t do gluten, so they gave him a gluten free bun and even told me the fries were done in a gluten free fryer. Woo! Service - everyone was ridiculously polite, even took the time to chat with my kids about their day. Ambiance - I’ve always loved the ambiance here. Fun fact, this is where we had our wedding reception 10 years ago. A beautiful blend of rustic and pretty. Bathrooms - this is the only thing I hate about this place. I'm not one to complain so I didn't mention it at the time but the more I think about my experience at The Powerhouse, the more disappointed I feel. I met a friend for Saturday brunch and while the building and decor were pleasant, I was left unimpressed by the food. I ... have no complaints with the taste but the chicken and waffles was very anticlimactic. For $21.95, I would have expected more than two, tiny shriveled chicken tenders (photo included) I've worked back-of-house in kitchens for a several of years so I know that this would have passed a number of eyes before being delivered to our table and not one person questioned the quality or quantity. We went to the Rabbie Burns Supper and it was fantastic! We had a delicious traditional Scottish meal, the service and atmosphere were great, and we were treated to wonderful bagpipe music! Check out The Powerhouse, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended 😃

Relive history at this renovated historical power station. Good Pub food with ample choices. The ambience is worth the drive! An opportunity to spend some time reliving the architectural splendor of an era gone by. Friendly service too. Live music on weekends and they host special events too.
