2024.04 My friend and I had dinner here to celebrate our birthdays, and really had a wonderful night. Everyone was super friendly especially Warner, who is so kind and professional. We ordered one 12oz ribeye to share and it was served in two dishes beautifully. We got the dessert with sparkle ... for our birthdays and the apply pie was so good! It was very nice of them to sing happy birthday for us. As a matter of fact, there were also other three groups of guests celebrating birthdays the same night and we got to hear the birthday song four times! Many thanks! Food was good, despite being a little bit too salty for us. It was amazing to experience the cooking by the original owner/chef since the store was opened in 1969, and to see the original deco and the retro paper order form! Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant! Read more
My $66 filet mignon had toothpicks left in it (wasn’t charged for it) and my crème burlee was lumpy, not chilled properly and tasted funny. The atmosphere and service was good, however, due to these two issues 3/5 at best. Won’t return.
I highly recommend Shakespeare's to all who have not tried or have not been back in a while. Having moved to Stoney Creek recently after spending my entire adult life in Toronto/Missisauga I have tried almost every high-end steak house. Shakespeare's meets my expectations of what an experience ... at a restaurant, of this genre, should be. I have made this my go to place in Hamilton and have now been 10+ times in the 3 months since I have been in Stoney Creek. I have tried two other steakhouses in the area and they dont compare value for $$ and quality. Try the broiled shrimp, swordfish and of course the steaks. Ceaser Salad ingredients are made in house as is the whole dressing and you can immediately taste that it is homemade daily. Read more
Fantastic! I'm so glad I finally tried this restaurant! Outstanding service and the food was top notch! The prices are fair; not any more expensive than The Keg, but much better service, better quality food and a more upscale atmosphere. Highly recommend!
we came in for a celebration of life and ate in the private room. I found our server to be a bit rude and rushy, he had an arrogance about him that felt condescending. There was another server assisting him and he was excellent, personable and very friendly. He even ... had a good laugh with us all. Unfortunately the other server just killed the vibe, we had just come from the cemetery and it just wasn’t the reception I had hoped for. The food was very expensive, which I wouldn’t have minded if it was worth the price. I ordered the fish special, the fish was perfectly cooked and had a lovely butter sauce with it. The sides is where I was lost, overly steamed mushy vegetables with no flavour and what seemed like packaged rice on the side, it wasn’t fluffy, had a bit too much bite to it, it was really a let down. I was especially let down when I got my bill and saw the dish was $75 - it should’ve been memorable and flawless for the price. My French onion soup starter was excellent. My dad loved his starter salad and my brother enjoyed his rack of lamb. My mom had the Caesar salad and said it was swimming in dressing and she had made better herself. Others felt the same about the quality for the price. I miss the table side salads and desserts which make this place what it is, old fashioned and neat experience, however without that it just isn’t worth the cost. Won’t return. Read more
