Turtle Jack’s Muskoka Grill - Hamilton, Ontario

I called in to order takeout pasta and was put on hold for 6 minutes and no one came back to answer. This should have been a sign not to order here but my pregnant wife had a craving. I called them back and placed my order for three cheese ... pasta. When I came in to pay, no one came to greet for a few minutes meanwhile bartenders were having fun socializing. Paid $30.46 for a half empty container of pasta. You can see it is a small container and all the sides have no pasta. Pasta costs $1 for a whole bag that could feed a family of 4 and have leftovers. I haven't been to this location in quite a few years and I must say it was a much better experience than I had previously. We had a party of 14 and they were very accommodating with us and the children. The decor inside is warm and feels very natural with a ... lot of really nice wooden accents. Our server and others were very friendly and always willing to help when we had a question. The price was pretty average for what you would expect at a steakhouse type chain. We had a large group last night of 9. I have eaten at the turtle jacks in Burlington and Waterdown several times this is the first time trying the upper james location. I found it was too dark in the restaurant. The lighting was quite dim. I had to ... use my light on my phone to read the dessert menu and there was a nasty draft from the main entrance. It seemed to affect our whole table. The service was good except I had to ask for a refill of my diet coke. She was good about taking alcoholic drink orders and we didn't have to wait long for our food to come out. 4 of us ordered the cajun chicken penne. Also ordered was the deep fried calamari a Greek salad fish-and-chips and chicken wings. The portions were a good size but I did notice an inconsistency in size with the cajun chicken penne's that were ordered. Mine seemed to have a little bit less than the other 3 for some reason. Everyone enjoyed their food. The fish-and-chips was a great size and I found my dinner to be very delicious. The only thing is the person who ordered the calamari said it was too chewy or rubbery it should have been deep fried for longer. I would be down to try this location a second time but I'm not sure how the rest of the group feels. Read more
