Very impressive first visit to this well reviewed pub. What struck me most was how everything tasted like it was made from scratch. Very good quality fish and not too much batter. The coleslaw was amazing and the tartar sauce was clearly homemade which is such a relief since everyone only seems to ... use F-ing Heinz which is over salted and over sugared. Musical entertainment was beautiful. And honestly the best fries and gravy ever. Caution very hot. Dont be stupid enough to burn your lips and tongue right after your fries come out of the 400 degree fryer, its all good. The blisters healed quickly and totally worth the great experience.

If it wasn't staggering distance from my home, I'd never go. The beer selection is only good compared to 10 years ago. They've changed exactly one draft beer in the last two years. I'd accept the dive-y decor (some of my favorite haunts over the years have been dives) if the ... beer selection was decent, but it's not. Unless you really LOVE Guinness, there's nothing on tap to write home about. People say the food is good, but the place reeks pretty strongly of dishwasher and really old fryer grease every time I go, so I'm going to take a permanent pass on the grub. (I only go once in a blue moon for pints with a neighbour anyway, so food typically isn't on the agenda.) It's an authentic Irish pub you say? Sure, in the same way your local legion hall is an authentic Canadian pub. If Mississippi Queen ever gets a liquor license, I'll be happy never to return. Read more
