Ora Italian kitchen + bar - Hamilton, Ontario

One of the nicest locations I've been to down in hess village! The atmosphere as soon as you step into the restaurant is inviting, as well as the welcoming staff who are very friendly. I highly recommend trying the calamari both ways as a starter, and obviously... the wood oven ... pizzas are to DIE for!!! Great food and service. One of the best mid-range restaurants i've been to hamilton. It's a gem. We ordered two "Penne Rustica" (image below), The Filet Mignon Sandwich and the "Keymaker's Lasagna" (image below), and all three dishes were incredible, moist and flavourful. For desert we ordered their 7$ (medium sized) ... Nutella Pizza (image below), which was more than enough for the four of us after the large portioned and hearty main meals. The service was also amazing - our waiter was patient enough to answer all our questions regarding ingredients and dietary restrictions and brought fresh parmesan to grate onto our food, at the table, to taste. We used a groupon to help pay for the meal, but I will definitely be going back even without a groupon, especially on Mondays when their menu (except entrees) is apparently half-off after 4. Some reviewers have mentioned that service was slow, but we found it to be quite fast (although that might be because we went there early after they opened for the day - around 12 noon). Read more

Great atmosphere, and even better food!! The stone oven pizzas never disappoint and the homemade gnocchi dishes are absolutely delicious. Ora is one of my favourite places for a date night, or girls night! They always have something new on the menu, and great promotions. We came in a group of 5, and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and they immediately set up tables for us. They then quickly gave us menus and took drink orders. The menus were well organized, and had some really nice selection. We came on a ... Monday night, because in Mondays after lunch, most of the menu items are 50% off, which is great because they're already fairly cheap. We got some appetizers, some pasta and pizza. Everything was just delicious, I got the penne with butter, parmasean, feta and chicken pieces, and I could eat it again any day of the week. Food was extremely slow to come out, and the service was extremely inattentive. We were on the patio, and waited for the patio lights to turn on, but never they did. We asked for the lights and got tea candles instead. We could barely see the food in front of us. ... (maybe the food was really ugly so they hid it by not having lights???) Also, the food was lukewarm when it got to us. Additionally, we ordered a nutella pizza, only to wait 30 minutes before they came to tell us that they didn't have the ingredients for it. Finally, when the bill came, the waitress did not split it properly. (To be fair we split in quite a strange way.) Overall, the food was nice (and 50% off on mondays after 4pm is great), but the service and atmosphere ruined it. Read more
