Baan Thai - Halifax, Nova Scotia

Phenomenal service, food came out fast and hot and fresh - every separate seafood ingredient in my soup was cooked to perfection so it's clear they've got some professionals who know their timing in the kitchen.

I'd like to start off saying that I have no idea what authentic Thai food is supposed to taste like. This was my first time eating here, but I've eaten at other Halifax Thai places. The server was friendly, the place was fairly empty but we were there close to dinner ... time. The atmosphere was pretty great, wooden carvings on the walls and ceiling. The food seemed kind of bland compared to the other places I'd eaten at. The portions were okay, two dishes filled 2 people. Plus a small order of rice each. I would never complain or say that it tasted bad, but it just didn't have the heat or the deep flavour I've come to enjoy from some of the other Thai restaurants. I enjoyed green curry yesterday. A little sweet but it is delicious as the original taste.

Impressed that they are extra creative with their food prep. Enjoyed the Baan Thai appetizer plate. Ordered green curry with chicken that comes with spring roll and salad and sweet and sour beef that comes with spring roll and salad too. Food tastes great! Would come back for sure.

My husband and I have tried many dishes, including the buffet, all are authentic, and so fresh, not made until you order. The green curry is the best in Halifax! The ginger lunch special is so flavorful. Atmosphere is peaceful and staff so friendly. Well worth the stop.
