I had the Thai lunch with curry and an order of spicy tuna. Restaurant felt cramped. They didn't have green curry and their yellow curry didn't have enough zip. The spicy tuna was amazing. The waiter was alot slow and not really on th ball. I will go back again ... for the sushi. Read more
Chain sushi is always an iffy prospect. The attention to detail and quality of product that make one sushi restaurant stand out over another are hard to carry from one location to the next. Thankfully, Hamachi is able to provide great fish and excellent presentation. We had lunch specials and were ... happy with just about everything. The nigiri were delightful and the fish almost melted in my mouth. The tempura was cooked perfectly and edamame sichimi was a surprise favourite; I'm going to start making my edamame at home just like. My only issue with my bento was that the teriyaki sauce was too think and strong. I ended up leaving some teriyaki-drenched rice behind even though I wasn't 100% full. The prices, especially the lunch specials, were middle of the road by Toronto standards. If I had more time to spend in Halfiax I know I would go back again and again. Read more
Recently moved back to HRM and was so thrilled to eat here again. BEST sushi ever. Good portions, beautiful sushi, fresh fish! We've eaten sushi all across the country, from west to east, and this is our fave! thanks, Hamachi House!
This was once the best sushi place in Halifax, it has since gone downhill. I have had a very long relationship as a customer at the Hamachi House; I have spent many years as a regular customer there. Sushi is one of my favourite kinds of food so I am ... always eating it and the Hamachi House was right across the street and was amazing! It was the perfect match for me but they have been going downhill for a long time and is now. It is still a great place to eat however there is other sushi in the city that out-classes it.
