Really cool atmosphere, was packed! A bit on the loud side but only because it was so busy. We had a chicken pizza and the gnocchi funghi. The pizza was ok but the gnocchi was fantastic. I visited this restaurant on a visit to Halifax and the atmosphere and food were great. I had an Il Tropicante cocktail, Insalata Burrata and the Linguine Capesante. I especially enjoyed the scallops in the pasta. They were so soft and were very fresh. The burrata in the salad was so soft ... and it went really well with the salad with plums and cherries in it. The Il Tropicante was frothy and fruity. Loved all of the meals and enjoyed the dinner here. Perhaps a tad bit pricy but as a treat, it’s a great place and you can’t go wrong with the food. Wanted to love this place after reading reviews and seeing all the yummy pictures. Brought my wife here for our 16th Anniversary as we were in town for a work meeting as well. Started off well with fresh focaccia and some cocktails. Old Fashioned was ok, having had many from around ... the world. Appetizers were next level good, we had the Arancini was great, but the Burrata with Lobster was out of this world! During this entire time we noticed the couple beside us must have been parents of a staff member, who knows but they drew a ton of attention from not only our waiter but others as well and this is what lead to the poor experience. Our mains were brought out and no check in to see how things were until 30 min later when we were done. At which time I explained to her that my steak was not cooked as requested. She had said “if I had known I would have made it right….” Well you never checked in on us as you were clearly preoccupied with the couple beside us. I explained that my filet was overcooked but it’s ok I still enjoyed it none the less. Order desert, which came but waited another 15 min for my coffee at which point it was brought out and was told sorry for the wait we made you a fresh cup, which would be fine but needed to wait another almost 10 min for Milk and Sugar and yet again no spoon. This was noted as our anniversary occasion, which was verified and asked again when we got there yet nothing was really done other than secluded (bar counter) seating. Might have been 5 stars after the starters but between the poor cook on the $50 filet and lack of service, I would say the rating I gave is fair. "Travel to beautiful Italy". This is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Especially for this money. Great cozy atmosphere, very beautiful stylish design in a dim soft lighting. Probably the only place where I wanted to take a photo of the toilet to show how cool it ... is. Very pleasant in conversation employees. Diverse range of alcohol for the bar and cocktails (I know a little about this, home bar is my hobby). I really liked the fact that you can taste the drink before ordering a portion. This is available in some places, but I haven't come across it often in all the places that I visited. We ordered Pappardelle alla lepre(Rabbit pasta) & Special dish(Feature pasta). And for drink Bombetta beer & Pinot Noir wine. As you can see on photos, we tried a couple of different wines before that one. And food and beverages were very-very-very tasty. Yes, I mean it. With my desire to constantly find new places to visit and eat, I now have a definite favorite in this city for important events like Christmas Day or a romantic evening. Highly recommend... no.. Second time there after our first bad experience. They were very genuine and concerned about our first experience. We were given a $50 gift card and the food was so much better. We started with GF bread, butter and garlic shrimp. My wife ordered their valley chicken and I ordered ... the lamb shank. I couldn't stop eating! The flavours made sense in each bite. The lamb was very tender and the chicken was seasoned perfect. Dessert was also very good! Creme Brule and Gelato for the win.
