The Village House - Gatineau, Quebec

An incredible place! Every dish was so fresh and flavourful. Our whole table loved everything we ordered. Great service and cute atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We had our wedding reception (12 people) at the Village House in Wakefield. Sarah was very responsive and was very helpful with preparations leading up to the event. The canapés, appetizers, and desserts were absolutely delicious. The main meal wasn't quite as good as when we had it before on a ... date night to taste the food, but that was our fault because 11/12 people ordered the same main in our party lol! Overall we were very happy with the food, restaurant ambiance (brick wall made for super nice photos, perfect music), the service, and communication with Sarah. Had a delicious dinner with friends, our waitress was super friendly, was was omg sooooo good. Plating was beautiful, flavours were there, there wasn’t many people in the restaurant but there was still a nice ambiance and good music! Cocktails were very good! Husband and I had dinner there in Aug 2023 to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. Our first time eating there. Outstanding food! Delicious flavours, nice presentation, high quality. Small portions, not the place if you want a giant meal. I had a smoked trout appetizer and a braised beef main. And a ... tasty gin cocktail. Husband had duck appetizer and lamb main and a chocolate dessert. Compliments to the chef. Our server was excellent. My only suggestion is that for such fine dining (and higher-end prices) the decor could be improved with tablecloths. The restaurant is very small. There’s a small patio where we chose to eat since it was beautiful weather and a scenic view of the river, but then a couple sat next to us with a baby so we switched to indoors for our quiet romantic dinner…but then a couple sat nearby with an active toddler. Oh well. I recommend this restaurant. Our dinner of 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 2 cocktails and 1 dessert with tax was almost $200, plus tip. Read more

Such a wonderful meal! This gem in the heart of Wakefield not only has delicious food but also fantastic ambience and service. Reasonably priced for the the high quality ingredients and creativity on your plate. Would highly recommend for a date night or special occasion.
